I'll be lifting my '14 Tacoma in early 2015 and wanted to know if anyone has installed either Procomp's or Fabtech's 6" lift kits and what they think about them. Ride quality? Most of my driving is on the street but I do like to get off-road for some mild action once or twice a month. Links for the lift kits are below:

    Procomp: http://www.procompusa.com/prodDetail.aspx?partNo=EXPK5080BMX&catID=1&subCat=38&ptID=3533&plID=1808

    or

    Fabtech: http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/T...005-13-Toyota-Tacoma-6-Lug-2WD-4WD-p1390.html

    or

I'd also love to hear other recs for great 6" kits.

I disagree on the better ride part. I've had them all and the DB kits ride way better than any 3" kit and I've felt them all as I work with one of the biggest shops here in Hawaii. We're sold on the RCD kit on every aspect of a suspension lift.

In your opinion, what makes the RCD kit better?

Yeah I'm still on the fence on either a wicked 3" lift like Icon, or going with a 6". Figured I'd start getting people's opinions early.

You can just get the basic kit and fine tune it to your needs which is what I did. If your looking at bds you should also look at the zone as it is the same kit and a lil cheaper.

For one on the rcd kit it comes with longer 5100's for the front where as the other basic db kits you you use your stock coilovers and add the top hat spacer. What you can always do is like it did and buy the longer rcd shocks and install on which ever db kit you decide to get.

    Drop bracket lift.

Are there any cons to running a DB kit?

Brother, I researched and researched opinions and pics for months before squeezing the trigger on RCD and this is after experiencing pretty much all the best lift options on my prior rigs (Icon, OME, Toytec Ultimate, Fabtech Dirtlogic). I can honestly attest to the RCD being the best so far.

Yes, there are pros/cons of DB vs non-DB kits, but I think the naysayers against DB kits simply never had one. To me, ride and build quality is my #1 concern in which RCD has proven to be so far.

im in same boat looking for the best drop bracket kit for the money. no way im going a 3" route it creats bad cv angles and a harsher ride. i like the rcd but seems u pay more for 5" vs 6" with the others. id like to hear from people who have had the zone kits for a while andhow they are holding up. are they really same as bds does anyone know for a fact?

I ran the zone on my 12 and got the basic 4" kit and adapted it to my needs turning it into a 6" kit and never had any issues. Both zone and bds are both owned by the same company sport truck usa. The drop bracketry on the 4" and 6" kits for zone and bds kit is the same. The way they achieve the extra lift in front is by adding a small preload spacer between the coil and top hat. Both basic kits have the same top hat spacer and the spindles are the same as well. Only major difference is the skid plates which are stamped a lil different.

On mine I ran the bilstein f4-be5-e122-to which is the front shock used on the rcd kit. This with the stock coils will give you 5" of lift and I ran a 1/2 top plate spacer and longer bolts for the extra lift. By doing this you eliminate running the top hat spacer on the basic kits. You can always add ome 883 coils or just use 2 1/2 top plate spacers if you want additional lift in front.
In the rear I ran the expos , 2" block in rear and used the bilstein be5-b110-t5 which is what is used on the rcd kit as well. I also added longer stainless brakelines from allpro to eliminate bending or cutting any existing brake brackets.
I too was in your shoes before I got my kit and did a lot of research before I pulled the trigger and went my route. No regrets at all and the truck drove great.
