It's a custom rigid race bar. It's badass but blinds the hell out of you at night if its not aimed down. You can't miss him on the street at night thats for sure

I think hes talking about the entire tie rod. That stock piece into the extension looks like its about to fold just sitting in the drive way. 6" over is way to wide to use any piece of the OEM steering IMO

Stealth Delete but ill respond anyway

The only real weak point I have found is the non solid mounted lowers on factory bolts but I just havent gotten around to solid mounting yet. reinforced subframe, the rack bushings are custom delrin and bolts are all grade 8. I'll crack a steering rack before I break anything else. I have a ton of hard dirt miles on this exact setup and still haven't broken anything.

I deleted cause i don't know what I'm talking about to be honest haha
I just raped my steering rack (grade 8 w/ tc bushings) along with the entire subframe. Hit a wall drooped out a bit and at an angle, pushed tire out (left) therefore pushing the tie rod upwards into rack (all heimed) and cracked the rack ripped it towards the passenger side and upwards, along with the crossmember it's bolted to.
Lower tabs also bent a good 1/2" backwards. This was of course all user error and I'm an idiot but if I had plated boxed and solid mounted lower I'd be a lot happier. I'm going to go back and make a plate subframe and lower arm mounts cause I can't think of another way to fix the damage

The Tundy ended up first in the Stock Full Class at the Baja 1000. Looks like it must have been fun!

Yeah. For example, a CV axle is a lot easier to replace than that stupid ADD side gear or god forbid the ring and pinion.

On the flip side, bending/breaking a tie rod at speed could possibly result in you rolling while damaging the rack seems less likely to.

hahaha I was just giving you a hard time man! Were all learning as we go.

Sounds nasty!, glad it wasnt any worse. I've cracked 2 racks now and its always followed with some upgrades here and there . At the end of the day these 2nd Gen racks are always going to be the weak spot, they just arent designed to handle the stress of a full day in the desert
