    Great news! I got the tank down and pulled the pump. For shits and giggles, I hooked the pump to a battery- and it came on!! Started testing the wires that are a part of the assembly, and found my dead spot. One of the ends was severely corroded. Cleaned it up, put some dielectric grease on it. My fuel gauge had never worked, cleaned those ends up too and hooked it back up to the truck- and now my fuel gauge works!! :D
    So I'll be slapping the truck back together tomorrow.

    I reckon that I'll just be returning the pump that is on its way from Rock Auto.

    I was almost mad at first when I figured out it wasn't the pump, but then I realized I could get my money back, and that I would have had to pull the tank anyways.
    And now I'll have a working fuel gauge! No more running out of gas!
