Swap Steering wheel from Sport to Off Road

Im going to swap my steering wheel from my Off road to a SPort steering wheel. Is there goign to be any problem? like using the buttons on the steering wheel with the radio or everything is going to work when i swap n connect everything???

I could see if you were swapping with a steering wheel from a sequoia...1 that has both the audio and bluetooth features...

The reason why im swapping because I want the steering wheel controls.. thats why..

what controls are on the TRD Sport that the TRD Off-Road doesn't have?

on the left you have audio functions and on the right its blank accept for the lever for the cruise control...am I missing something...

 

Some TRD models don't have the steering wheel controls. Mine doesn't.



He has one that doesn't have the controls and he is swapping for one that does.

probably should research this before the swap...

FWIW, most of the features are usually prewired, as it would create a ton of different wiring harness for the tacoma, not financially wise. i would assume the wiring is all there, but might want to do a once over before you start the swap...

 

It probably won't unless the wires are already there to operate the steering wheel controls. It will fit but if the wires aren't there them it's pointless

 

But, I'm sure you can get the wires to hook everything up if they aren't there.

 

Ima get everything with the wires. i believe. i just gotta get everything connect.

I didn't know that...thanks for clearing that up...

the necessary wiring between the head unit and in the steering wheel should be in place...you just have to install the new steering wheel and connect the wirings...I don't know whether or not the head unit has to program the buttons...but I figure that should be all plug and play...

i just talk to the technician from Toyota. he said everything is goign to be there., just gotta run the wiring from the steering wheel to the radio. like u said.. bro.. I dont think i gotta program the buttons, it should work when i connect the wires. i will keep ya posted tommorrow..
