Still hard to find ammo in MA. Some stores slowly restocking the shelves but by and large, nada.

My local walmart has almost every shelf full, but no .22, luckily I have plenty. They haven't gotten any .25 and stopped carrying .30 carbine, two that I could use some of. .223, .308, and 7.62x39 went from nothing to now having to stack the crap out of it to get it in the shelves and all the common pistol calibers are full as well. I'm hoping ammo becomes an overstock soon and the prices drop.

Anybody know where one can acquire some 9mm Fed HST (either 124gr +p or 147gr standard)?

Yea, I've checked many, including sgammo, and they are 'out of stock'.

Anybody know who has 9mm HST 124gr +p or 147gr standard in stock?

DO NOT USE .300 blackout in the .300 Savage. It's a good half inch shorter than a savage round. It is in stock everywhere they sell hunting ammunition, including most online retailers, and is still a very popular round with handloaders.

Updated with links of ammo actually in stock. It's a good round. The old guys really like it because it will kill anything in the woods and it's flat shooting enough to have some decent range. Nothing compared to modern rounds, but for hunting it gets the job done. Here is some interesting history on the round- http://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/.300+Savage.html

EDIT: If it's a savage model 99, which I assume it is, it was manufactured in 1949. Cool huh? http://www.savage99.com/savage99_dates.htm

I may know where a good bit of ammo is for the .300 savage, I'll check tomorrow at work and find out.

It's not a secret. Several million more high capacity .22's in circulation with thousands more sold everyday and limited production capability. Everyone who has a rimfire line is running them around the clock pushing out millions of rounds a day, and we are buying them. None of the manufacturers want to invest the several million dollars to start a new .22lr line for modest profit margins, do you? If so I would like to place an order for two cases please.

    Supply and demand.

Now I was with you until you started implying you were gonna knock a feller in the head to steal $7 worth of ammo. I would guess most of them are armed and that won't work out too good for you, but be my guest. I'm sorry you don't have the personal motivation to find any pills for your chipmunk .22, but there is plenty out there at normal prices if you look. I buy about a brick a month 100 rounds at a time regularly. I shoot several hundred rounds of it, and keep a couple sleeves for a rainy day. You can do the same, or try your chances playing CHL wack a mole. Choose wisely.

Talk to the guys behind the counter... they get it in, people are just still hoarding it.

You can find boxes of CCI and specialty ammo, but Federal Champion bulk boxes don't stay around long enough to pick one up.

I just pay attention when local stores post they have it on FB, then I call and pay over the phone when I can to have them hold it for me.
