The law states "in a vehicle", doesnt have to be on a road. Driving down game is illegal, which is the reason for the law. His friend was wrong for getting into a vehicle with a loaded gun.
If he was merely transporting it, it would be in a rack or a case. Not in the front seat pointed through the floorboards. Your last post obviously shows that you don't know or understand the law.

If a game warden pulled up and the OP wasnt in the vehicle, doesn't matter, his friend would have gotten a ticket if the office asked said friend to get out of the vehicle and then checked his gun.

We arent discussing whether he received or should have received a ticket. My post was on poor hunting/gun practices. Nothing more. If you want to debate proper practices, be it gun handling, hunting or simple common sense? Then start a thread and I will be happy to debate you all night on your apparent lack of judgement to the matter.

People get killed every year over this exact mistreatment of firearms. I take hunting very seriously as well as gun safety. Enough said.

I didn't post on here to be bashed about gun safety lol. I'm simply asking if I should go back all stock or if I should go the header route! Mistakes happen, although it was a easily preventable mistake it happened and now I'm just trying to fix my poor truck!

I would reroute the exhaust, clean up the hole make it about an 8" circle. Then install a door over the hole. Make sure the door is watertight and you have a nice ice fishing Tacoma.

Yeah and guns fire themselves through floor boards. Your of that side that think guns kill people and spoons make you fat.

Or, your just looking to argue. I'm done with this.

Maybe they were standing under the truck in a ditch and shot up through the floor

    Yep new Tacoma back OE/stock.
I have seen trucks with fishing holes in the floor. You can find them on youtube. Never seen a Tacoma with one.

Ok I'll just go back stock. I didn't know if there were any benefits of completely deleting the cats in these trucks or not. Thanks

Not sure what the laws are in Miss. but in alot of states....namely Cali, your facing stiff fines for deleting the cats, especially on a new vehicle. Not to mention forgoing your warranty which isn't recommended.

Just out of curiosity, what load did he have in it? 2 3/4" #7? Or buck shot?

Just curious as to what it took to go through the floor and cat.

It was 2 3/4 target load. Should've never gone through the floor but with the muzzle being pushed against it I guess it didn't take much. I'll post pictures when carpet is pulled out. I wish I could tell y'all I was lying and it never happened!

Hey man, everybody fucks up. At least no one got hurt and hopefully you AND him learned your lesson. I hope I was able to teach you something that saves you a ticket and your guns in the event you didn't know, in case you were hunting.

$2200 is nothing when compared to losing you or him. Trucks can be fixed, attitudes can be changed, lives can't.

Didn't mean to get all sidetracked on your thread. I hate the on going gun debates and its stuff like this that strengthen the fanatics side is all. It will all work out.

Do NOT get insurance involved. Go back to stock and you and your friend can work out financials.

You really want to tell your insurance about a possible illegal accident and then want them to pay for it? I mean how else do you spin a hole in your floor board???

And rock lobster, keep it classy, would ya?

Well, since you brought up shooting a hole in a truck... 20 years ago a friend of a friend was hunting deer either in Iowa or MN. The guy saw a deer across a field, fired, missed the deer, but hit his own front fender.

I would love to have a picture of OP and his buddy just after the gun went off.

Thank you. I've been hunting my whole life and I was brought up the right way as far as safety goes but I did learn to check my friends guns before they get in MY vehicle. I'm just glad to know that I can come to this forum with all my life problems and not only my tacoma questions! Thanks again and I'll let y'all know how it goes
