Zack do the fairings come with a contour to the window or all straight? Say if I wanted it contoured with the window would that cost more? Believe im just going to buy the rack and modify with a light bar of my choice when funds allow

 

If you have a preference. Let me know. I started doing the curved ones in hopes of reducing the wind noise a little more. After testing curved and straight that are the same size I have found no difference in wind noise. The straight versions are easier to keep in stock because I can have them sheared or cut with a saw vs. waiting for the laser cutter.

 

What is the noise level like?

 

Zero with the deflector on.

Gets really bad without it on around 25-30 mph. That was when my brain couldn't figure out that the 2 aluminum, non-black anodized bars were for the deflector But I have it on all the time now.

 

Okay, so on the website with the white double cab in "recent news" with the fuel wheels has a standard rack w/ a contoured fairing?

When I ordered from Zach, I made no special requests for the deflector.

 

I don't hear it at all, but my MT's are getting noisy as they wear. Pretty sure they conceal any other noises.

 

Yes we put a contoured deflector on that one. The curve is so minor it is hard to tell on most of them unless you put a straight edge up there. Also, to answer your question, his is the standard rack with powdercoating.

 

Looks like yours is probably contoured as well.

 

They both look and function great, I have had a combination of both curved and straight on my truck at various times to test different ones out for differences.

 

Has anybody found a good shovel mount that works well with the rack? I'm currently looking and just curious if anyone has used one or found one that will work well.

 

Mountain State Overland just bolted some quick fists to the crossbars and mounted their shovel that way.

If you want secure you could easily mount a Pelfrey Bilt up there and have a secure axe and shovel mount also made of aluminum.

I explored the quick fist idea on the side of my cab and cap racks but the shovel will slip or spin lose and rub against your truck. The quick fist just does clamp down tight enough to hold the shovel with the blade perfectly vertical...hope that makes sense.
