The title pretty much says it. i picked up a T100 for my long travel build this past weekend and want to know if my 2002 taco brakes can be swapped onto the T100 axle. i know the diffs are the same so im swapping the 4.10s i have now to get rid of the 3.91s.

ive taken a look at both axles and it seems as if they use the same breaks aswell. any info would help. thanks

Because my T100 axle is complete besides the brake assembly. I don't want to drop more $$$ if my perfectly good brakes on the taco would work on the T100 axle. I've spent enough money on my front and rear long travel. I I thought why not use the best of what I got. Thanks for the input.

well that makes sense and is smart, its just most people swap for upgrades to go bigger tires and such so its expected someone doing it needs, or definitely could use, a brake upgrade as well.

im no expert but I expect you will find it all swaps out and works but wait for someone who knows more then me to listen too

    ...too much shit to list.

Short answer...it depends. T100 came with two different shoes. One that is identical to the 1st gen tacoma shoes (and 4rd gen 4runner, and pickup/pre-taco, and tundra), while the other was the same as the late 80s/early 90s land cruiser.

The holes drilled in the shoe frame for the springs and clips are slightly different between the two. If you compare your taco shoes to the t100 shoes and they are the same...you're good to go.

He's talking about rear brakes, not front.

The swap is because the t100 axle is 6" wider than the 1st gen tacoma. Has nothing to do with better braking. WMS-WMS is 66" instead of 60". It pairs up with a front LT much better and allows you to outboard the shocks if you're clever with shock placement and fabrication.

Well for one, a T-100 and a Tundra are not the same so telling OP to ditch his idea and do a Tundra brake swap isn't helpful to his cause.

OP I'm petty sure they'll fit. The T-100 was a bastard child that came about so that Toyota could finally break into the big boy truck market. It utilizes mainly Tacoma parts on the new, larger T-100 frame and body. Hell it even uses the same V6.

Thanks for all the info guys. I've read a lot that the T100s are the same thing but just 6" wider. Brake upgrading is not really important to me. I'll let you guys know how it all turns out. From what I've read I can swap my 4.10 diff and able to swap the brakes.

As long as your taco diff is the 8.4 (non e-locker) then yes, it fits. Drops right in.
BTW I put in a tundra rear end in my truck a couple years ago, so feel free to ask questions if you have any.
