What size ubolts do I need when adding the Icon aal progressive? Also, do people recommend leaving the overload or taking it out. Aiming for 1.5" of lift.

I think 1.5" you remove the overload, and if you want more like 2" you leave it.

    Good luck with the bolts.

Do I get rounded ubolts, square, or semi rounded?

Normally the 3 Leaf Progressive AAL kits include new u-bolts.

I would not leave the overload in myself. Battling with a lower back end right now due to my AC being a 4 cylinder and new springs not settled yet. I tried adding the overload back in and on anything but very small bumps, I find it pretty damn rough, more so than stock for sure.

I removed the 3rd leaf and the overload, then ended up putting the overload back in looking to level the rear out with the front.

I took my overload out when installing my Icon 3 leaf AAL and re-used the stock u-bolts because the included U-bolts had a mis-matched nut that didn't fit. They sent me a replacement nut but I've not had an issue using the OEM's. Still plenty of thread showing past the nuts and rechecked torque twice post-install and it's consistent.

Now if I were to run them with my overload in, I would use the longer u-bolts that were sent with them.

Call Icon, they should be able to help you.
