Well, I saw the low light shots straight out of the camera on a D750 and WOW. That is really impressive for a camera I wasn't impressed with when it came out. The shots were at 12,800 ISO and clean as hell without any PP. then there's someone local selling a D800 with battery grip and nikon 50mm 1.4 for $2000. Damn the decisions.

    Nebraska Carl - Somebody #7/100

Meet Nebraska Carl! He was here at the Mill coffee shop to read the paper. I saw his killer mustache, hat, sweater combined with is manly gruffness and friendly smile and just had to ask for a portrait! He was completely calm in front of the camera and allowed me to take a good dozen or more photos while just talking with me and doing his thing. He had a genuine quality about him that I quite enjoyed. I would definitely hang out with Carl haha. He was about done reading the paper and I had some work to do so we parted ways. Until next time, Carl.

I'm not sure. Part of me wants to but I have way too much invested in glass.

some of this, a little of that

I have the D3200 and only the 18-55 lens, I have been happy with it so far and have (at least to me) gotten some really nice pics with it.. I would like to try a different lens or two but right now monies is going toward the kid.

Don't worry about gear at ALL for the first while. #1 biggest mistake I made, and tons of my friends and others made, when starting out was trying to find the right lenses and extras that we liked, but as we grew as photographers and understood more we realized that the stuff we bought wasn't what we wanted/needed long term anyway.

Definitely put your time, money and research into learning how to use it. Get out and shoot as much as possible, and just enjoy the ride. Once you've developed a niche or something you particularly love to shot and feel that the lens or gear you have is holding you back form that (for example if you fall in love with macro photography) THEN, after you have established a need, go ahead and buy more gear.

For now, master the skills, yo! ha just get out and shoooot!

You can't shoot your current glass with an adapter? I gotta look into it a little more as well? the adapters don't auto focus correct? I am thinking about a A7r just for landscapes so MF should be easy enough?

That D3100 and lenses will be a great kit to start with. And I agree to the above, learn your gear and know the light.
