Spray bedliner will do just dandy I'll be using the rustoleum semi gloss, always keep that ish on hand for keeping the rust away.

 

The Yakima bars have a plastic coating so don't get torn up at all. I wonder if you were able to do something similar to that, if it would it help?

 

Like many coats of plasti dip and redo it every so often?

 

I don't know if that would work. Maybe. The Yakima bars are almost pipe in an PVC/ABS sleeve. Maybe you could make some "covers" out of plastic pipe that you use to slide the tent off.

It was a real mofo with my higher bedrack, much easier now.

It's even easier with two people, I'd be the idiot that blew my back out or dropped it..

 

Dropped the damn thing while taking it off. And since I place mine over the cab, I managed to rip my side view mirror clean off when it fell...

No damage to the tent tho. Now I always have 2 people, call a buddy or wrangle a neighbor into helping.

 

My bed rack is rather tall but I man handle the tent up there myself. It gets alittle sketchy sometimes but it works.

 

I use my teenage boy to help me lift mine on and off. Everyone should have one....

 

I leave mine on 24/7 lol

 

Then if you drink to much you can just sleep in the tent instead of driving home.

I started to think about it, and I'd feel a lot safer opening the tent in a secluded area (i.e. camping) than in a city or near other people lol. Funny how that works

 

When you open it up in the city people take photos of it flock to it. Its funny.

Haha exactly! Woke up one morning at camp, popped my head out and 5 people staring at the tent.....I was like...um...hey...hello......just going to take a leak....umm
Then the questions start rolling in. How do you get up there? What is that called? Hows it attached?

The mounting hardware looks pretty cheap, like taking on and off just a few times I'm already seein wear.

Any suggestion for sturdier replacement?
