So should all PA Tacoma owners be getting a letter about this? Or should I just call a dealer and ask for service immediately due to the long wait?

I got an update from the dealer today. My truck has been sitting at the dealership for 6 weeks while I drive their Camry. They have the frame and all parts but the installation kit is back-ordered from the manufacturer. Because of this, they can't give me an ETA. Once the installation kit is shipped, it will go to the Toyota distribution facility and then they will have an ETA. The service tech is guessing 2-3 weeks but really doesn't have any idea. Once the dealer receives the install kit, the job will take 4-7 days. I am picking my truck up tomorrow and will be driving it until all parts are in and they are ready to begin the work. I don't have any issues with the dealer, they just don't have any info to be able to provide me an estimate.

Yes, they replaced the rear leafsprings, all brake lines, and the front lower A-arms. Am very happy so far with work. While they had the truck at cost to me I had them replace a leaking waterpump, replace a leaking transfer case seal and install new rear shocks. Note that fluids that had to be drained were replaced with new fluids, ie: coolant, brake fluid (no extra charge).

So I got the "Limited Service Campaign" letter from Toyota last week and decided to inspect my Tacoma myself. Sure and behold 2 holes in my frame and it was deemed unsafe to drive. I dropped off my Tacoma and asked one of the techs in the back of the shop roughly how long it would take. He said he ordered a frame for one 4 months ago and still has not received it. I Then talked to my service adviser and he said once Toyota corporate gives the ok he will get the frame in 4-6 days and I should have the truck back in 2 weeks????? I then took it upon my self to go to the parts department in the same dealership and was told I would be lucky to get it in 2-4 months. I called about 20 dealerships around my area and they all said the same. After numerous searches on line I found out the there is a class action lawsuit about this very problem. I called Toyota corporate and the corporate service manager agreed that they have a problem and that there is no buy back program and to call there legal department and file a complaint. So in conclusion Toyota is going to put a $14,000 frame into a truck that is worth $15,000 and have me in a rental for 2-4 months and when I get my truck back I cannot trade it in because it has been flagged as a rust bucket. I AM DISGUSTED and going to take the advice of the Corporate service adviser.

I just got a check in the mail today for $22 from Gilardi & company about some Toyota economic loss BS. We own a tacoma and a Camry and it does not say which vehicle it is for. Then I open my email today and I found a letter from the dealership I purchased the tacoma from. It says to bring my truck in for a frame inspection. It says if it passes Toyota would like to spray an anti corrosive compound on it for free. It also says they would provide me with a rental car for free for two days. Dealership is pohanka of Salisbury, Maryland.

Tell the dealer that need to tow and you will unless he provides a more suitable vehicle /something closer to your Taco. See what they say.

I recently had my frame coated with the CRC from Toyota. My 06 frame looks good for it's age as I spray it with chain bar oil yearly.

Do any of you know if Toyota will support us if the frame rots even if we complied with the CRC campaign?

    Thanks in advance

Has it come to consensus that there have to physically be holes to get a frame replacement? I don't have holes but my whole frame is completely rusted

    To answer a couple posted questions;

    - Toyota is "currently" limiting the frame service campaign to mostly the "Rust belt" states. Perhaps they will extend to other states? At this point , of your truck meets the rust criteria, I'd bring it to a Dealer and get the issue logged and open a claim to Corperate.

    - The Specifications for replacement/ CRC coating is listed within threads here at TW. IF you Search I believe you find a PDF of the Toyota specs for inspection/rejection.

I've searched around. If you don't mind, please post the link to the PDF so I can try and determine if I'd get a new frame.

    Thank you,

Ok guys I stopped at the dealership last night to get a few things out of my truck that I did not want to wait the additional 10-12 weeks they had told me it was going to be.

I feel a little better after talking with the service manager. He said the service advisor that had been giving me the run around wasn't working there anymore and they were still on schedule for the 8 weeks. Im on week 7 at this point and he said there was 3 frames that had showed up that day and there was a good chance one of them was mine, but he didn't know because they had not been received in yet.

I got told most peoples frames are showing up in the 7-8 week time frame and its only 3-4 days for a few techs to do the work after they get it.

Hopefully I will have my truck back in the next week or 2 !

They had my truck at a offsite storage lot while they are waiting for the parts. It had over 50 tacomas in it! I wanted to take a picture but it was dark. They said they had another lot that was full that probably had another 100 trucks in it all waiting for frames/parts ! Crazy

what dealer are you dealing with? My truck was at IRA Danvers for 6 weeks before I picked it up yesterday after being told the installation kit was on backorder and they had no idea when it would arrive. Supposedly, they have my frame and all other parts needed for the job, except the install kit.
