If you have the stock alternator, then a 180 CB should be sufficient.

 

Just something I noticed, but the CB you have near the "left" bed battery, that fees up towards the alternator and starter is too low. The starter itself can EASILY pull 200A. I would think that at worst you RISK tripping the CB for the front. Just an observation.

 

Why would you want to overload the breaker for 10 seconds in the first place?

 

Yes, I do realize there is a difference. I also know that not all CB are built alike. I just thought I would mention it. No need to get feathers ruffled. Sure a CB is designed to be able to HANDLE a higher draw for a specified length, but why would you want to draw 200A through a 150A CB for ANY length of time? Repeated starting of a vehicle can, over time, wear out a CB that is rated for less than the normal draw. I would personally suggest a 250A CB since that is higher than the rated average draw. But it's your truck, do whatever you want.

 

Got everything ready for the relocation wiring

 

Thinking to mount a second battery for sound system only, connected to the primary battery that's connected to the alt. Will this battery isolator work for me?

Also for the wiring is it 2nd battery-isolator-1st battery-alternator??

Depends on your isolator. Mine runs alternator to anode of isolator which is also hooked to 2nd battery, then my starter battery is on the cathode side of the isolator. It should come with a wiring diagram.

But it looks like that isolator will work as long as you don't use an alternator bigger than 200A.

since I did the battery relocation my speedo goes up with the revs even when the truck isn't moving only tires, anyone know how to fix it? Battery was grounded to frame and alt too.

 

WOW - Never heard that before. Where is the battery now?

 

edit: battery was grounded to frame, alt was grounded to frame. No cable from battery to alt directly, thinking that maybe the prob

 

Grab some jumper cables and connect the missing link. That will be the only way I can think of to test that theory right now. Are you sure that in your recent movings of the battery and other components that some other wires didntget damaged?

 

I'll try that, and yes I made sure to do everything carefully. Also double checked that everything was connected correctly

 

$ 10 on a grounding problem. the same thing happens to people's stereos and you can hear the ground noise with RPM. Only thing now is ur SPEEDo is doing it.

Check your big3 connections as well as ur ground at the battery relocation

 

Do you recommend a place to ground the battery and the alt?
