I'm 100% sure the alarm came with the truck when I bought it brand new, 0 miles, at the dealer. Is calling the dealer the easiest way to figure this out? Thanks.

Mine never honked the horn. I don't have any type of alarm that must be whats different.

seems it must be an add-on item like the RS3200 I have on my '04. Keyless was there with a Piezo and they added the alarm for free (basically a glass breakage sensor) but never had the horn tied in.

when I got my remote starter they tied into the horn for lock/unlock. now that I think about it I should ask them to get rid of this and maybe use the piezo instead....hmmm

No luck yet, I'm still trying to get Longo to tell me what kind of alarm it is. They're really dragging their heels. Definitely wouldn't recommend these guys.

Thank you! This worked on my 2014. It's been bugging me since I got the truck.

I didn't read the entire thread but out of curiosity why would you not want your truck to beep when you lock the door? I could understand if it was obnoxiously loud but mine is pretty quiet and I like the conformation that it is locked.

Sorry if I missed something by not reading the entire thread being on my phone.

I find it unnecessary. I don't need a beep to let me know it's locked or unlocked. I can see the lights flash and I can hear the door lock actuators click.

I also do a lot of camping in the summer. These beeps get a little irritating to those sleeping in tents near you that don't have the same sleeping schedule you do.

I traded in my '05 for a '14 a few months ago. My '05 did not beep. I definitely missed that.

The OP has a neighbor that filed some kind of "noise complaint" because of his alarm. Evidently, a half second beep is too much for some folks to put up with.

I put a piece of tape over the beeper. I poked a hole in the tape so it still makes a lower volume beep. I'd imagine if you taped over the whole thing it wouldn't make much if any sound.

I thought the same, turns out his horn also honks everytime as well. He's looking to find a way to make the horn stop honking, but still have the quiet chirp/beep.

OK, called again and spoke to someone this time. I think they're just a huge dealership.

It's called a "pursuit alarm" and the way to disable the horn is to cycle the key on and off 3 times in the ignition. So you insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position, then off, 3 times. No other instructions, worked for me. Hope this helps someone else cause what a headache for such a simple fix.

Thanks for info , good to know and ez fix for you. In reading forum on this issue I couldn't figure out why some had the beeps and others didn't. Dealers may change them, either way this info should be in the factory manual IMO.

I know this post is a bit old but I discovered during hunting season that began shortly after I purchased my 2014 taco that the beep and honk no matter what i did was quite annoying...and would scare off or alert any critters that were nearby more than they should have been, I followed the instructions for the rockledge horn turn off email and the beep removal on page 1 and 2 and now all I have is the flashing lights and the sound of the doors locking/unlocking... Thanks to those on here who had more trouble than the rest of us to figure this out, no more annoyed neighbors and silence in the woods, oh and they both worked the first attempt... :headbang:

A note for those who have unplugged the sensor in the steering column so you don't get the beeping when the key is in the ignition: that sensor needs to be plugged in when you do the key cycle thing mentioned in the first post. If it's unplugged, the sequence won't work.

    - Lift hood

    - Hit key fob

    - Locate noise/sound/beep (right hand side)

    - Unplug beeper

I just tried this, could not find the horn for the life of me. My neighbors must have though I was nuts. Any chance you have a pic of the horn for a dummy like me?

Scratch that. The process detailed above worked for me. No more beeps, but still have the lights.

    It's a little square box ... maybe 1" x 1" ... attached on radiator frame ...

... anyway ... glad it worked out good for you.
