Not sure. I haven't messed with one of those yet. Search TW i'm sure someone has a removal thread. Removing the whole plastic center piece is easy peasy though if that's what you were implying.

On my pioneer deck just grounding the wire wasn't enough. I put it on a switch. When the switch is off the wire is connected to nothing and when on the wire is grounded. I have to have it in the off position when I start the vehicle and then I can flip the switch on and watch movies.

The deck isn't just looking for ground, but a change to ground.

I think that guy in that Youtube video said something about Pioneer. All i've worked with was just ground it somewhere.

I'm sure that Toyota won't bother to make it that complicated

I have not tried that. I just was parked in my garage and inserted a DVD (not bluray) and it would not do anything. Basically ignored the disk. I will try setting the parking brake but I would have figured being in park was enough. I may have been wrong. :D

I'd think that it would come up with some type of message saying "Video is not permitted for your safety" of something like that. Kinda weird how it ignored the disk.

I agree, I even tried several other disks and nothing. Maybe they changed something for the 2015 models.

I tried 3 different DVDs and each time I got "Check Disk....." and it would not do anything. It will not even play MP3s burned to a DVD. I think it will just not recognize the DVD format. I tried with parking brake engaged and also not engaged.

Taken from Toyota website. Looks like you have to have the fancy Entune to play DVDs...?

"Play traditional CDs, MP3 and WMA files. For even more multimedia options, Premium HDD Navigation with Entune® App Suite includes an in-dash DVD player 13 that allows you to watch DVDs when the vehicle is parked."

Looks to me like you have to have the "Premium HDD Navigation + Entune" Or whatever. I don't know if there are varying levels of Entune, but this makes it seem like there are
