2015 has 2300 miles on it. 1000 miles ago, I put in AFE CAI and re-geared to 4:88. Nice change. Now I want to supercharge it. Should I wait for a certain number of miles before doing this?

Also would like opinions on price. Dealer says ok to purchase S/C online and bring in. Charge for install is $1,100. trdparts4u charges $4,295 for SC and install kit. Takes me out the door for $5400. thoughts?

I don't think you need additional break in for this 1GR engine pertaining to the TRD supercharger. You can definitely find a better price than 5400.00 installed. There are much better deals online for the main assembly and install kit...

Read peeps getting it done under 100 miles, pretty much as soon as it's purchased. I did mine at 3600 miles last week. No worries.

You'll have shop charges and 3 gallons of antifreeze, about $100 more.

Make sure the AFE works with the supercharger. I know the Tacoma SRD CAI can cause problems. You could run lean, then boom. You do know the SC is covered under the warranty and even a long term extra warranty:D. I got my 2014 truck in April this year, my truck and SC is covered till 2022, maybe you can still buy it. You'll have to do maintenance on the SC at 100,000 miles, since my mileage is low annually, I'll think about it at 5 years at 50,000 miles to be safe. But that's me. Prolly $500 charge.

I looked and looked. TRON is seeing the older superchargers and not including WARRANTY install maybe. One site, I called them about the 2014 SC and it's the old price like $3,850 back in 2012. The guy said the site isn't updated. Dallas Toyota was the best I found and I talked to the guy there, seemed solid. I decided to go with the Dealer cost on the SC and the kit. Was $4493 for parts, $367 tax at 8.25%. Install 10 hrs $100 an hour. I talked to the tech and the main uber master MF tech. They did them all the time, not a big deal. Best place from my many phone calls and visiting outta 4 diff dealers in Las Vegas. All are pretty close. Except the rich side of town. 14 hours at $120 an hour. They must have to pay rent at their overpriced McMansions. I went with Findlay Toyota if anyone is interested. The TRD counter for upgrades like me was silly busy all the time when I was there two diff times. I never had to deal with the young kids there, I dealt with the service guys and the parts manager.

I also got a new 2015 Tacoma for my rental car, no charge.

Lastly, the parts manager, the tech (at 2 diff places) said they have got kits from Dallas missing a part, looks like Dallas had opened the box to swap parts due to warranty issues (both was the SC belt), maybe to solve local issues, then resealed the box. That could be a crap story. My installer place had the parts, good price (10 hrs labor) experienced techs and free rental. I payed $5897 out the door. They treated me well. In Tuesday, out Thursday.

You will like the SC WOW! It's awesome and glad you can afford it like me!

Thanks for the reply but I'm not so sure. The link you gave doesn't even sell a SC for my truck. In fact performance parts only go up to a 2009 year for Tacoma. Most threads I've read re a 2015 seem to range from 5500 to 6500 in price. Which is why I posted 5400 to see if I'm missing something.

    mileage is fine

the AFE stage 2 Si is proven to work well with the blower, but take it off and throw the stocker on for any warranty service just in case.

    around 5K isnt bad

Good to know about the AFe. I love the throaty sound under the hood. I was going to leave it on when I took it down there. If they give me crap I'll deal with it then. Dealer has been pretty reasonable with me from day 1. That's cause I've paid them so much dam money in upgrades.

I also looked at the Tron link, saw nothing of value. Mebbe if you called them. I like to call them 'flippant posts'.

Yea, the SC is prolly louder. It's not that loud, only when you get on it. And the SC will be louder in boost. Meaning coming off the stoplight just giving it a bit more than a bit to be able to merge etc. I'm sure you read my other post. At 2000 you can begin to hear it. Get on it, right away something is different, Woohoo!

The gains from your AFE cold intake vs what you get from the SC is nothing. You get a long term warranty and don't wanna screw that up.

How many SC Tacoma issues have we seen posted here about warranty issues? Pretty nil anyway. Ask the guys at AFE to make sure please. So prolly not a worry.

Justus, I bet, you prolly keep bringing it in to spend mo' $$:D

Actually I do almost all my maint...........whenever I stop in for parts they know the truck and ask about it.

I have taken it in to them 3 times for work...........

    TSB leaf pack= free
    supercharger install
    AC refill

I was their first blower install, and it stuck with them along with the fact I brought it in with full bolt ons

Do you guys with AFe get any vibration from the hood when you hit power band level? I know its coming from the AFe because I didn't get that until I installed it. Also, did you find the lid to the filter box to be a biznitch to fit? Mine is a terrible fit.

the lid is a PITA yes.

    as for the noise/vibration

make sure all bolts are tight...u should see them push thru the undercoating under the fender, otherwise when at higher RPM, the washers under the bolts "float" and rattle and make noise.

next time the lid is off, push down on the plastic assembly and see if the washers rattle or if the bolts are not fully seated.

All of this supercharger talk is making me want to get one.. Was going to get an e36 m3, but now I think I might get this instead.

OP, that doesn't sound like a bad price out the door. But thats coming from someone who hasn't bought one

I got quoted $5300 first they said $7000, but I showed them a Supercharger online and they pretty much matched that.

How long is your warranty? I'm thinking about getting the 8 year warranty, but not sure if thats worth the extra 2k

I got the extra 5 years, was $1400 I talked them down.

If you can get it for $5300 installed go for it.

What makes anyone here think the main TRD assembly is different between 2005 to 2015? The fit kit may differ though:cool:

I have a 100K mile (or 8 years) warranty. They told me I could purchase the item online (because they can't match the price) and then would charge $1,100 out the door for install. They also said that if they do the install, my warranty would remain in effect. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

Why not get both? Buy the e36 m3 this year and get the TRD blower next year or vice versa. Have the best of both worlds :D

BTW big fan of the E36 M3 and E30 M3
