K. That's all the questions I had. The 3 most important things are that you have a good ground on both antenna mount and cb, your antenna isn't grounded to your cable and your cable is in good condition and not pinched any where. If these things are good then you won't have a problem with tuning it. Most problamatic is grounding issuses. Specifically at the antenna mount

 

make sure it's not aluminum...... I learned that the hard way

I've been using a magnetic mounted antenna for a while now, and it works pretty well. It's a shorter whip (3ft or so)... I believe it's called a Little Willie. I did have it sitting on top of the wheel well in the bed to keep it low, but I moved it up on top of the cab, and it works great. I like the looks of the firesticks, but it is nice to be able to stick the magnetic one just about where ever you want without "mounting" it.

 

Yeah they work ok. No where near what a good antenna will do though. I agree about being able to move them, if that's what you want. I like my mount where it's at and don't feel I ever need to move it. I also don't drive around with my antenna on and only use my cb offroad

I never thought about taking it off when not using it. That is a good idea. I'm sure that a lot of people do it, but it just never crossed my mind. I use mine on and off the road though. It's handy when you hit a traffic jam on the interstate...

 

Yeah I got a quick disconnect on my mount so I just pop it off and keep the antenna in my toolbox. I've never kept it on thinking someone might just take it but it really doesn't make any sense cause I drive around with a tool box full of a few thousand dollars of tools, and my antenna, and have only locked it like twice in 6 years. Lol

What's a good cheap car tire? I need new tires for the frs. I might be coming to Knoxville the weekend after Christmas again like last year. Maybe someone will wanna hangout and not avoid me

What does the fr-s have on it now? I would say you cant go wrong with michelins, bridgestone, pirelli, or hancook. Stay away from khumo, dunflops, nexen, and yokahama.... the are noisy and wear like shit.

 

What's a car tire?

 

Had an all season Yokohama on my Subaru. Thought they were awesome. Still fair tread after 40k miles when I sold it. They were not "advan" line though. Friend had Yoko Advan on his Lexus GS350 and liked them except didn't last much over 30k miles.

Had some good Bridgestone on a Camry.

Can look up model numbers when i get home tonight.
