But that wasn't just any shock, that was a strut. The spring was no longer attached after it broke.

I've stuck to more than just the street. First problem I've ever had with them and I'm pretty sure if you hit a 2x2 hole @80 mph your gonna have problems reguardless of spacers.

Not just federal highways either. I trashed my suspension and wheel on a San Francisco city street, a huge pothole at a railroad crossing. City would have paid if it had been just away from the tracks, but the railroad coughed up in this case. Wherever it happens, if you have a right to be there, someone is responsible for the damage/injury.

Not just a spacer lift that did that, it's preload in general. I've seen 2 sets of 5100s snap at the same spot.

UCA's generally aren't needed until the 2.5"-3" range. I'm still on stock UCA's @ 2.5" as are many others.

    LOL
it should be from the shock bottoming out before the bump stop hits. because the spacer lift pushes the shock down.

5100s are a different story..... right?

i was going to say this as well. really depends on your vehicle though. 1 2nd gen with a 3 inch lift might not need UCAs and 1 with a 2 inch lift might need them.... LOL

at least in Louisiana, they have 48hrs to repair a reported hazard in the street, after that, any damage is by law required to be paid for by the government. :) sad no one reads the statutes passed, LOL!

excellent post bro, 5100's and spacer lifts equal the same junk! tried them both.

replace springs and struts with something that is designed to handle extreme load, i ended up with Iron Man springs and struts (3"), they even ride better than an oem trd sport, with no lift!
