You will see it much more often here soon. They are moving all 787 manufacturing to the Charleston plant in the next year or so.

Just 787 bud. And it serves them right. Keep striking, lose jobs.

737 program is staying. You can't move it at all... they have that down to a science there. 37 planes a month or something crazy like that.

767 line is only open until they are done building my planes for me. So, 2028 I think is the latest, but we shall see what they do with it. 757 is not making any money. 747 is pretty much done, except for one or two planes I think a month.

But, military test is gone except for KC-46. Boeing is slowly moving their programs away from Union states. I don't blame them. The same labor costs them 2-3x as much as a non labor state, and they get the same work out of them.

Haslefre do you ever deal with Cobham Mission Systems in Davenport, IA?

Some of their systems will be integrated into the KC-46. I have not worked with them directly. I have worked on their products though. They will be making our refueling pods, as well as pumps and fuel tanks. Why do you ask?

My dad is the lead tech of the refueling department at Cobham. They are hiring 85 guys by the end of the year for this big contract.

I'll get your contact info for future use... But I still have 8 years left until I retire. I don't feel like starting over yet.

However, if he can give me some insight into some reliability data on his tanks and pods... I am all ears, as Boeing doesn't like to give us information unless pried ;)

Living in Iowa would suck anyway. My dad has a couple years left before he is going to quit and start collecting his pension.

As far as I know, Boeing does all the design and everything on the pods. And it's kinda secretive around Cobham too, so my dad probably doesn't know any good details. His crew just builds them to Boeing spec. Boeing has changed the design 11 times on the last 11 pods, so they are in the process of retrofitting the previous 10. Must not have been very reliable at the beginning. Now I think Boeing said everything is good to go, so Cobham has to pound pods together faster than they ever have before for the next year. They are going to run 24/7. My dad already works 75+ hours a week and it will get worse. They are already scheduled to work Christmas Day.
