best corded drill

Any suggestions/recommendations on a nice, powerful, long lasting corded drill? Looking to spend less than $100.

 

Don't know what you can find new in that price range to meet your requirements. The best 3/8" drill I had was a Hitachi. Bosch makes some good power tools. I have a Milwaukee 3/8" drill that works, but I am not impressed with it. There is probably something used that will do the job for you. Watch Craigslist and similar sites.

 

I have a Ryobi D42 and its 4+ years old, gets abused to shit, and has never failed me. Set me back $40 when I got it.

DeWalt cordless are crap at least that's been my experience with them . I don't buy based on brand , I have tools from all manufacturers , they all make some good tools and some dogs

 

Yesterday's purchase was solely purchased based on my exp with DeWalt in general, sale price and Fastenal replacement warranty. I obviously don't put tools through the tests like you so hoping for the best.
I would of bought the Bosch Drill/Hammer but, for 100+ more, I couldn't justify it. Love my 12v Bosch drills and ummmm dishwasher.

 

Far from a contractor but my DeWalt cordless tools have been great. Several drills, impact, cordless Sawzall type saw. Wouldn't mind more juice on the saw but only because I use it for tree trimming sometimes.

 

Can't help much OP, my corded drills are Craftsman and an old Rockwell my grandfather owned.

 

I gave my DeWalt cordless gear away , only cordless DeWalt stuff I have now is a rotary laser level , inspection camera , small vacuum and a radio

 

Cool, My Gpa was a furniture builder and I have a Rockwell Drill press of his that runs like a champ.

I wish I had more. It runs like a champ. Needs to be cleaned up (trigger sticks) but I used it last weekend and worked great.

wow, thanks for all the info guys. dewalt it is! looked into rockwell too, they look great. if you still have your grandfather's, maybe it would be worth spending the extra money on one to have around for a lifetime.

 

I have a Makita 1/2 chuck, one of the torquiest drills of its size I've used. Need to be quick off the button if the bit sticks cause you won't hold it back.
