They've been doing it for quite some time. I'm always seeing people whacking into rocks and crap with them lol

That front shock reservoir seems a bit exposed to the world too. Usually it seems like they're more tucked up.

When the truck busts a leaf it will take out the shock as well. Chevy will then claim the truck is not rated for mall crawling and void the warranty for abuse. :D

Actually they'll probably say it's just a characteristic of the truck.

What is that thing anyway? I'm assuming it's not the actual Colorado coming out soon. I haven't been following the thread to excuse my n00bness lol

This is why I never take these truck seriously.. them rear shock brackets that will rip off with the right rock, that's just stupid... . why are the springs and shocks so in-board? I have to carefully examine one soon, at the auto show (Detroit) I was asked few times not to crawl under the show trucks...

GM has not commited to build the ZR-2 as of yet. The ZR-2 is a concept vehicle that "may" enter production, and even if it does it may not even be the same as the concept version that was shown in LA.

I hope they build it. Then the next Tacoma will have to respond with something even better :D.

How much do you think the next Tacoma is going to change between now (whatever it is) and its unveiling? At a certain point they're going to be stuck with what they've chosen for 2016. I'd assume they're most of the way there anyway.

But yes, maybe they'll respond to the new Colorado/Canyon with the 4th gen Taco (2026) ;) Let's just hope they've been thinking ahead, because lord knows it won't receive anything more than a new grille and head lights for a decade. Also, none of us should be bashing on the ZR2 concept because how many of us would buy a 'offroad ready' vehicle from any manufacturer and expect it to be the way we want it? Just like the TRD Pro - waste of money, could do it better with parts ordered from Amazon and an afternoon in the driveway. More interested in the potential of the average joe trim.

I doubt Honda will put that bad ass transmission on a lowly Honda truck when Acura really needs the help. I can see it in the MDX, TLX, and RLX though.

I didn't believe Honda would go the route of body on frame. It's not Honda type of style... not that Honda style is all that great looking.... especially the Acura's horrible beak

I know you weren't happy with your Tacoma, but your a bit out of line on your comments. Toyota hasn't redesigned the Tacoma because there has been no competition and it's been selling pretty good. Toyota is a business, they are in business to make money. To be bitter towards them for making business decisions that make them more profit and doesn't harm anyone - as in the case of not redesigning the Tacoma for 11 years is short sighted. You have the choice to purchase a Tacoma or not.

As far as your comments about the Pro - Plainly put - you're talking shit and I think you know it. :)

I bought a 2014 Baja and it is Bad Ass. I test drove TRD Offroads & Sports for a full year trying to decide what to get. The Baja flat out smokes them both as a daily driver and is a great bad weather 4x4.

Not only that, you would be surprised to find out the amount of very loyal OME lift customers that admit to how their leaf springs squeak constantly after a year or 2 and how putting that aftermarket lift on has caused them vibe issues at several different speed ranges that they can't eliminate + with a 3" lift you're looking at new UCA's as well - no one factors that in on their "Baja's and Pro's suck Rants."

My Baja is a lifted factory warrantied 4x4 that drives and corners like a sports car - It has NO body roll. I know for a fact it's a hell of alot more fun to drive than any Ram on the Market.

And Dodge Rams just flat out suck the big one.

[Just kidding - It's your money, your life, buy what makes you happy - but it's not cool to bash people for purchasing what they like and makes them happy - not that you directed that at anyone, but it is directed at people who buy the Pro.]

Glad you like your Ram, but man you have got to let this Tacoma thing go - you've been ranting for quite some time about this. :)

Who pee'd in your cornflakes lol. You took a small comment and turned it into another Toyota rip, should I get into the issues I've seen over the last 10 years with the GM's we've had at work? I'm glad you like you're new truck but honestly Dodge and Ford are light years ahead with there engines, transmissions, and weight saving technology. Don't preach about Toyota being slow adopters when you can barely tell the difference between a 2009 silverado and a 2015 from more than 50 feet away. I like the duramax trucks, but honestly GM isn't leading the pack IMHO when it comes to revolutionary changes that force the industry to respond.

BTW I do love the new corvette. I'd buy one if I had the money and wanted a fun track and road machine. Too bad it took 30 years of terrible vettes for them to come up with something worth that sort of cash again.

I have no issues with the ZR-2, but you guys are talking like it'll be in the lot tomorrow exactly as pictured. I really doubt that will happen. The ZR-2 will be just like a Pro, except priced even more ridiculously. A Z71 DC is selling for well over 40K in Canada. That's over 5K more than a similar TRD Tacoma, and I'd expect the ZR-2 pricing to follow suit. That is IF it ever makes it to the factory floor.

I hate to tell you sir but with a good team of engineers you can make almost any SUV or truck platform offroad ready as long as they stick to body on frame technology. That's no secret and I wasn't trying to argue anything similar to that. The TRD Pro is a good looking truck in person and, while dollars and cents wise it isn't the most efficient purchase, they are selling relatively well. I expect any ZR-2 or higher end off road package GM releases will have similarly good sales as long as this Colorado doesn't have the same issues the last gen did. Pro's sell based on looks, not capability. The Raptor sells the same way and so will any ZR-2 like GM truck.

No one has seen the final "new" Tacoma design but if the Colorado starts hurting Tacoma sales Toyota will respond. Will they blow the Colorado out of the water with a shocking total redesign? Hell No! Will they come up with something extremely competitive with the Colorado and even the ZR-2 should it be produced? Yes, in Toyota's normally conservative fashion the new Tacoma willl be evolutionary rather then revolutionary. I would suspect it'll be a very capable platform.
