Frozen Taco!

Heater took a shit today.
Took the truck for a short local errand and the heat stopped working 10 minutes into the drive. Blower works at all speeds just zero heat.
Thoughts?

 

I'd check fuses, cabin air filter, I would also take it in if you can't figure out what's wrong with it. But I dont know what could be wrong with it.

 

Check passenger side floor board for water, antifreeze or any wetness. If any of those hello new heater core. And don't just look. Feel.

 

As far as fuses we don't have electric heat in these trucks we get our heat from the water/antifreeze in our radiator being heated by the engine. Could have a bad thermostat but the truck would most likely overheat at that point. If it's not over heating and temp isn't rising my money is on the heater core bursting. Most likely cold temperatures, off roading and a combination of just shitty timing and pop. But luckily it's not the end of the world

The heater won't work in the first place, so nothing to break bwahahaha!

 

If it was working and stopped while driving and the temperature gage did not suddenly drop I would guess a bad flow control valve or low on coolant and it sucked air into the system.

 

Craig, start with the most simple solution. Check your thermostat. If it is stuck open you will get no hot fluid to your heater core, thus no heat.
I would remove it and place it in 190 degree water and see if it pops, if not, BOOM problem solved.

 

Clogged heatercore ? Try back flushing.

 

jeep heaters will bake your ass. never had a heater blow so hot so fast. fastest power windows i ever seen as well.

 

X2... I don't remember how the hoses are routed, but see if the heater hoses are both warm. I'd guess having heat and then losing it right away would be more of a heater door control issue vs a coolant/blockage issue.

Probably just low on coolant. A vehicle can be down a 1/2 gallon or more and not actually overheat or show anything odd on the gauge. But it won't have enough volume for good heat. But then that begs the question: where did it go? Hopefully your check engine light doesn't come on with a misfire on cylinder six!

 

Our jeep's heater worked great. About the only thing that did.
