would it be feasible to cut the flanges off and weld in a new pipe? I know you can get un-seamed tube, but I figured there would still be some balancing issues.

if you can be without it for a day or two, bring it to a driveshaft shop and have them retube it... cheaper than a new driveshaft and they can retube it with a thicker wall

That's the plan for the trail spare but if I can't find anything before I get on Christmas break, that's what I will do. I just can't do without the truck between now and then.

Pull the rear and drive around in front wheel drive for a couple days. Won't hurt a thing. NoCo driveline has a pretty quick turnaround when you bring it in.

Hadn't thought of that. I will have them shoot me a ball park estimate to make sure I can swing it.

Full length Rocky Mountain Rack with 40" lightbar, Alternating strobe rear dust lights. I used a warm weekend in March 2022 to finally install my brand new from old stock 2000 4Runner driver's seat. $800 directly from the factory in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.

This brings up a question I keep forgetting to ask. What exactly did the exalted USFS do to 7Mile that allows us mere plebeians to use it again? Is it basically the same as I remember, but with an official USFS approval stamp on it, or can you drive a Prius or Fiat on now?

If it is basically the same, was this just a power display to remind us all of our place at the bottom of the recreational food chain even though technically the paper pushers work for us, the US Taxpayer??

No Pious Fiat will be traveling this road, lol.
The Forest Service graded it out, repaired the erosion, and repaired the water bars, and repaired the area's where the river usually jumps it's bank. There was one particular off camber section that they flattened back out which was a good thing. They did not touch the challenge area's. They did the same with Kelly Flats. I'm amazed they were opened at all this season.

Ill be in the springs visiting family tomorrow so that I can be up at the cabin for the long weekend. Thanks though.
I'm sure I would see differences but 1st gen superiority is not something I would see. I would have to bite my tongue so that I wasn't bragging the whole time about how much better 2nd gens are.
