Looking at both of these trucks. The Sport has a tow pkg. that I need. The Pro does not. If the hitch is not included does that mean no trans. cooler and HD alt.
Is the Pro worth the extra 5G.

PRO isnt worth it IMO.... unless you plan on never adding your own lift and REALLY want the hood scoop with the factory locker.... no point. and if you say you need the tow package.... get a truck with the tow package, the trans coolers are well worth it!

Is it worth the extra 5k? Depends on what you want and like, many of the cosmetics in the Pro come from the Sport. The big issue it seems for you is the Tow Package. Depends on what you want to tow. A port or aftermarket hitch gives you a tow rating of 3500# The factory Tow Package gives you a rating of 6400#. Factory Tow gives you a Class IV hitch, AT Tranny Cooler, Engine Oil Cooler, Bigger Battery & Alternator, and Trailer Sway Control (computer stuff) Plus all the wiring installed for both the 7 pin plug and a Trailer Brake Controller. You could add a class iv hitch and the Tranny cooler to the Pro and tow most things that one would realistically be towing with a Taco. If you really want the Pro and need the Tow...hang out until you find one, they are out there, just hard to "catch".

If you plan on never doing modding to your truck as far as a lift goes but like the look of the Pro, then get the Pro.

Otherwise the Pro is not worth it. Everything on it I'd personally end up taking right back off anyway for a higher lift and other things.

Or you could go kind of middle ground and get the Offroad (but I'm not sure about the tow package options on those)

    EDIT

Although I just found this thread, guy has a pro with a tow package http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/352427-picked-up-my-trd-pro-ac.html

Too bad you dont get the bigger alternator, bigger battery, trans cooler, and 7 pin harnes with a cheap hitch.

Most of the TRD sports and off roads come with a tow package because it should just come on every truck really. my TRD OR had the tow package.

OP i wouldnt even bother with the PRO.... i spent 600 bucks on some 5100's in the front, got my 1.75in of lift, threw in an AAL and some OME N182 shocks in the rear and now have a lift similar to the pro (same height in the front, more in the rear) and better load handling in the rear (read better towing)

I paid a shit ton less than the pro, and i have a tow package...... yes i dont have that fancy grill, or the hood scoop... but i can overlook that for a price difference of 4400 bucks.

I would buy a TRD off road and get a mid travel set up for it over the pro.
