Bowman sounds fun. Just a one day up-n-back? Or overnighter? What are conditions like up there right now?

Friday 11-28-14 (day after thanksgiving) I will be headed to Prarie City for most of the day, I've never been so I'm Stoked!

Hoping some other members will be off work and want to meet up (ferny?)

After PC I am heading to South Lake Tahoe until Monday so any local Tahoe members want to wheel and show me around I'm also down.

Thinking if starting a thread but I probably won't.

Thinking about going to try to find some snow and do some wheeling with some coworkers this weekend since there is a bunch of rain in the forecast.

Is it still possible to make it up to Ellis Peak? Can anyone recommend somewhere in that area to go on Saturday?

TW member 'jberry813' lives up in the Tahoe basin, so he would be a good source of info. I think most of those mountain 4x4 roads up there are closed during the winter. They might have a hard date (like 10/31) for closure, or maybe after the first major storm.

As I understand it, anything gated in the basin was closed on the 15th. I know my normal trails are now closed. Can't speak too much to West Shore, but you can call basin management and ask. They are super friendly. (530) 543-2600.

That said, there's not really any snow other than the really high peaks. Could change obviously based on the current weather forecast. If you do head up (and their open), let me know. I think I have Ellis Peak trail in one of my books and I can scan it and upload it here if you want GPS waypoints.
