My point was comparing 2 comparable models. A base model tacoma without 4wd doesn't cost $32,000.

    I bought my TRD 4wd for $31,000.

That's great if thats how you feel. So go buy want you want.

Exactly. People are lined up to get a raptor. They are hard to find around here, and stay on the lot a day or two and are gone. It blows my mind because you could build a pretty bad ass taco for the same $. Look at the popularity of the Jeep Rubicon... they sell the shit out of those too. I hope Toyota gets their head out of their ass soon.

My Wife and I were actually JUST talking about this. So many different people buy the Wrangler, and for different uses. Some never see dirt, some are beaten to within an inch of their lives, but even after the FJ was released, sales for the Wrangler have still gone up. It would be great to see Toyota bring back the FJ40 & 60 series, but perhaps with more modern amenities, and to add more to the "Off Road" moniker they label their vehicles with, rather than seats and stickers. More manufactures (Chevy, Ford, Dodge) are making pretty capable "Off Road" models, and selling every one of them. And for 2015, Dodge is throwing a 6.4 V8 in the Power Wagon.

Hey if GM will eventually move 3-6 K on a Canyon than I think it's very likely my wife will own one. I'm just saying that right now I know for sure I can't get a similar SLE 4x4 Canyon for the price of a TRD Tacoma. A 4x4 SLE Canyon is 40 K CAD after taxes, and TRD Tacoma is closer to 37 K CAD after taxes. The GM dealer wants MSRP and the Toyota dealer will move a few K too. That 3-6 K difference is a big deal to a young family like ours.

Buy what you want, but don't try to convince me what I heard right from the dealer is false.

^When I went to my local GM dealer for a test drive, the salesman voluntarily told there's about $4k worth of discounts off sticker. This is with only one Colorado sitting on the lot. I think domestic truck buyers have been accustomed to seeing cash incentives all the time. If your local GM dealer isn't budging, go to another one.

On a different note, with the Raptor on hiatus for a year or two due to the F150 redesign, and the Colorado losing its V8, the Taco has the fastest 0-60 mph time of any production pickup sold in North America.

They might have the autotrac system on the zr2 that they currently only offer on the canyon.

Im going to the International Auto Show next week, so maybe they'll have one there, and I can see what Toyota is bringing to the table.

Sure, people will buy a Raptor, and there will be those who will buy a $45k or $50k ZR2. But I have been to several off-road places and events and I have yet to see anyone in a Raptor or any high-buck brand new truck for that matter. That's not to say it never happens - I am sure it does - but my point is that for all practical purposes they're building these to be trophies and not to be used. I bought my Tacoma because it was $23k and I can afford to use it, modifyit and enjoy it. If I have an $800 or $1,000 truck payment I am not going to risk doing a bunch of damage to it.

But of course the companies are making these to be sold. What you do with it once the deal is inked is not their concern.

It remains to be seen how much of the equipment on the concept show truck is actually functional. If the buttons aren't dummies, then truck has front- and rear e-lockers as opposed to the stock truck's open-front and G80 LSD rear. The inclinometer screenshot is likely a static image created for the show.
