Probably because you have a dope truck that you actually use as it was intended haha. Remember seeing you rip it at pismo a couple years ago for that toyota meet was a good time.

 

Winched an F150 out of a mudhole at Hollister Hills today. They were stuck up to the axles.

Yikes, they def look buried deep. Pop out easy with the winch? I hope they were thankful. Did you run trails too?

 

Yep, I was up there with the wife and daughter tooling around. We did the new obstacle course ("adventure track") and some blue square trails. Took it pretty easy because we were by ourselves, everything was still a little more slippery because of the rain, and because I didn't want to do anything that would actually scare them.

 

I doubled back the winch cable for a 2 to 1 ratio.

The winch was dragging my truck back towards them on four locked wheels until I ran an additional holding line to another stopped truck with his brakes planted. If no one else had been there I'd have had to get more resourceful about blocking my wheels.

 

Hitch winch? I've been kicking around getting one of those as well as having a hitch built into a front bumper. That way I can just keep it in a tool box for trailing and not have the weight all up front

Yeah, but it would have worked fine if it was mounted in a front bumper, I woulda just been pointing the other direction.

I'm actually thinking of selling all my hitch winch gear and just getting a front winch bumper for two reasons:

1. I'm tired of losing the bed space and/or muscling the winch around when I just want to reclaim that space in the bed

2. It's less convenient on those times when I actually want to use it.

The receiver winch mount turns out to be a more versatile configuration, but a less convenient one. If you're thinking of going that way, let me know - because if I decide to switch I could sell you all that gear (solenoid, cable, cradle, etc...) for considerably less than it would cost you to piece everything together new.

 

Hah! I'd love to jump all over thar, brother, but I'm still saving for a new truck right now. I'm a good year or two out from a winch
