synthetic oil ok for my 2012?

My 2012 factory manual info booklets say to use 5-30 conventional and never mention anything about synthetic engine oil. I was surprised the new 6 cylinder truck came with conventional in it as the 4 banger I understand call for synthetic. I'd like to use a synthetic that helps with mpgs. Would the 0-30w Mobile synthetic be ok for winter in my 2012 or should I use 5-30?

 

Synthetic is fine. I'd use the recommended viscosity.

 

I had an 05 V6 and ran 5-30 Mobil1 syn since about 9K miles. I changed over to Mobil1 syn in my 2014 on the 3rd oil change around 5500

I've been running Mobil1 since the first oil change. Go for it.

your truck will blow up if you use synthetic.

 

You will get laid more with synthetic in your truck.

If your owner's manual call for 5W-30 conventional oil you can safely use either 0W-30 or 5W-30 synthetic oil. The 0W oil will flow a little better when cold than the 5W oil.
