Hi All, We bought a new 2012 Tacoma 6 cylinder access and the factory warranty will expire in March. I've never taken it to a dealer since we got it from them as I have done the oil changes and maintenance myself so far. Do you recommend any need to have them check it over before the warranty expires? I was under the impression they'd check it over for free, but I was told by the new dealership they only look at it if there is an issue and that I'd have to pay for a look over service. Any common issues or adjustments needed within the 3 year initial period you've experienced? I've only put 23,000 on it so far and all seems well now. :) Thanks

Dealerships don't "go looking for issues" as a function of warranty repairs. They will only repair something that is broken. Since you've been keeping up with maintenance you should be fine. You've got one of the most reliable vehicles made. :D

I'm going on 55K on my 2012 and the dealership has only changed oil and filters since I drove it off. I figure the more intensive maintenance will come at 75 or 100k. If nothing sounds or looks broken, I'd say save your money and invest on gas.

You would have had some kind of an inspection with each Toyota Care visit for the 1st 2yrs/25k miles. That's every 5k mikes. Sounds like that was a while ago though mileage wise.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Change out the diff oils at your leisure and drive on. Think about the plugs at 30k or now IMO. How's your cabin air filter? and this is after all the big shit fell out.

You are referring to the 2yr Service package, not the Factory Warranty, correct? Factory warranties were 5-7 years I thought.

Unfortunately with warranty work they wont technically do anything unless something broke or malfunctioned so it would be nice if they did the 30K services but the warranty doesnt cover any routine maintenance services.

Yes- Toyota Care, the complimentary service package.

Actually disregard my post, it's not helpful to the thread. I wasn't thinking correctly and made things confusing b
