Thanks. I always wondered how often you have to add the urea fluid or whatever it is to the truck and how much?
Amen! It drives me crazy when people buy a diesel and never use it for what it's for, just a waste of resources. There's a guy here in town with an older Powerstroke like mine, but a 4 door, lifted and all he does is drive around pouring black smoke out all over the place. Black smoke is unburnt diesel so he had to basically detune his engine and make it run like shit just to do that, shit is so stupid and makes civilized diesel owners like myself look like tools because of fuckwits like him.

Next time you should ask them to go wheeling with you, then leave his ass where he gets stuck.

And if you are insecure about your truck only a ford f650 will fix that

But we live in a world where people pride them selves on what they have and not who they are, not to mention chris is less than 2k away form 100k posts. So with that being said you should have told the guy if "If I had a penis small enough I would be driving a bigger truck" and move on with your day.

I'm not insecure about it, just get tired of the same ole attitude and people riding my ass. I just thought it would be interesting to share on here.

But I do have people ride my ass a lot and not just big trucks so maybe my wife is right about them being in a hurry. I do drive fairly slow, with 5 of the sl most of the time and everyone else seems to want to go much faster.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.

I've always had obs powerstrokes, this was my last one. Always thought I had to have the capability to tow equipment or alfalfa. Finally just decided I didn't want to spend so much in fuel. My dad has a duramax dually, so we used that most of the time anyway. I always wanted a Toyota, and I'm totally psched with my taco. The wife and kids not so much, they miss the room and my wife feels the taco make her car sick. I think it has to do with the fact that the taco leans and rolls so much more when turning and braking than the ford ever did. If money was no issue Id have both.

Well, one thing amongst many about our little trucks, is how reliable they are. I saw a thread on here where some guy with an 06 has 375,000 miles on it or something very close to that, with little to no major problems. You own a truck that can withstand the day to day or the rugged trails and still keep ticking (it's a Toyota thing) every time you turn the key. I don't believe some of those other Big Trucks could do that without some major issues in its lifetime. A buddy of mine has a F-250 Diesel that the motor exploded, and it's not very old. He just spent about $7,000 getting his bullet proofed.

I've been told by many that I should have bought a bigger truck and or bought American. I don't care, I love the size of my truck because I can get it many more places that a full-size can't go and I can still tow anything that I would need to. Also, the only truck that has more American parts than mine is the F-150 so, I don't feel bad about buying an "import". My dad has an F-150 that I drive a lot when I go home to Georgia to visit. It's a nice truck, but I hate driving it around Atlanta with some of the narrow streets and tight turns. My Tacoma just handles much better. But then again, I would also prefer to drive my Tacoma instead of my mom's new BMW.

I guess bottom line, the Tacoma is a great truck and anyone who makes fun of it just doesn't know what they could have gotten with one. They are just :jellydance:

I would tell you to ask him what he's compensating for, but it's usually best to defuse the situation. Your reaction is what he is looking for, so just don't give it to him. Just smile and say thanks, I like yours too. Nothing you can say about your truck vs his truck is going to make him rethink his comment, because he can easily convince himself he's in the right when you drive away.

I really think when you react positively, it lets him know he made a stupid comment and hopefully he feels just as stupid.

Let's consider a list of the reasons you might buy a Tacoma

    -Great resale value
    -Mostly American made
    -Most dependable
    -Slightly more efficient than most
    -Can haul most peoples' needs
    -Generally beautiful trucks
    -Nimble and small-framed
-Not to mention the best forum on the internet.

All of these are facts you could use in a comeback, but none of these are facts that can stump somebody in one line. They require explanation, or else all your local bully has to say is "Nuh uh" and they are moot as far as the situation is concerned. So unless you're ready to take the guy out and explain to him why he bought the wrong truck :)p), I would leave him to his insecurities rather than feeding them.

Nothing wrong with this thread OP, keep on enjoying your truck.

Depends how much you drive it. If you drive and tow constantly every day its about every 3-5k miles depending on how much weight you haul. Its a 7 gallon tank and you can get the stuff at napa or walmart for just over $2 a gallon, dealers sell it for $5 a gallon. It has urea in it but not sure what else, everyone just calls if DEF fluid (Diesel exhaust fluid).

I hate it when people just hotrod diesel trucks. I was in Canada this weekend coming back and in a tunnel this asshole in an old cummins thought it would be funny to put out smoke, turned into a 3 car wreck, luckily I wasn't part of it.

Nice, and because of assholes like that, this is why we now have to add urea to our new diesels so they don't smoke. One group of bad apples spoils the bushel. There is a time and place for rollin' coal, like at tractor pulls and drag races, not on public roads.

Exactly, or I can understand if a car pulled right in front of you and had to slam on your breaks or something, but not just for the hell of it on a main highway in a tunnel, go do it on some back road without any other cars around.

Before my 2014 and 05 Tacoma, I used to drive a crew cab long bed 4X4 Chevy.

Your response should've been "now was that really necessary". But then, that terd was probably just itchin for a fight. Prob not a fair one either. His cousins and GF would've jumped out and you would've had to get all ninja on em.

Didnt really have anything constructive to add other than he's just a product of inbreeding. Dont let it ruin your day.
