One thing I don't agree with is showering at the gym. I have no idea how someone could use a gym shower or be barefoot anywhere in a gym. That's just nasty.

I'd rather wipe off with a towel and shower at home later.

Why would you need to be barefoot to shower ? Do you not own a pair of sandals ?

Oly shoes for deadlifts and squats aren't really needed since they aren't oly lifts. They can help with squats if you're going deep.

Oly shoes for oly lifts are a no brainer though, and will trump any other footwear. Shoeless might help more then a typical running shoe since the rubber isn't a solid surface, but a solid raised heel will help everytime.

Haven't hit the gym in a week. Think I broke my "ankle". Might have to go do a bunch of curls and seated presses to get my fix. Definitely going to put a damper on the sprints I planned on running before the feast.

People would always look at me weird when I lifted in socks. I really like using the 5 lb plate when doing squats.

One time this guy asked if he could work in while i was squatting and he had running shoes on. I said he could move the 5lbs that were on the floor and he siad "it's ok" and proceeded to lift in running shoes stepping on the plates... needless to say he fell forward on the way up. IDIOT!

I did the plates thing for a year or so before buying shoes.

just gets a bit dangerous if the floor doesnt have much friction to hold the plates in place

oly shoes are numbar juan doe

Because I work out at lunch most days and have to get back into a suit and go back into an office for several hours.

Besides, after the Army, boxing, and wrestling most of my life, the gyms I'm working out in now are practically sterile operating rooms. Flip flops do a pretty good job of keeping away the foot funk.

But sure, on the weekends when I'm just hitting the Gold's by my house? Yeah, I jump in the truck sweaty and head home to clean up.

As someone who works at a gym, I can assure you we clean our showers at least twice a year ;)

For real though, so many people are scared of gym showers, I seriously clean them maybe once a month because there's probably 2 people that use them. I'm also in a small town, though and I'm sure it's way different at a bigger gym.

There's a cleaning guy that's at the Gold's I go to every morning from 3-5ish and he's always dusting, vacuuming, and mopping the gym floors but not sure if he does the bathrooms. The few times I've gone in them though they have all been fairly clean. I'm sure the gym I'll be going to in May when it opens (Las Vegas Athletic Club) will stay spotless. At least I would think it would for the people that will be going there, i.e. strippers and performers for shows downtown. I can't wait to sacrifice my workouts and start being the creepy guy that stares!

haha yeah I only work around 3 days a week because of college, but I clean everyday. We have a guy that comes once a month and does more deep cleaning like steaming the carpet and stuff. I was working yesterday and I went in the women's bathroom to make sure it was clean and all the toilets were full and sewage was coming out of the drain pipe in the floor. We had to lock the bathrooms until a plumber could come this morning; this happens a few times a year and 99% of the time, it's fucking tampons blocking the line. I'm so glad I'm off today and don't have to deal with that shit (pun intended)

That's fucking disgusting. Years ago when I was 19 I use to work at a tanning salon cause you know, nothing but girls worked there and I was the only guy and it was mostly girls that came in so I would go to work and see hot girls every day. Well, after they're done tanning we'd have to go into the room and clean the bed and the shit we would find! Used tampons, there was a towel on one bed with shit underneath it, there was an older guy who would beat off in the bed, drug paraphernalia like pipes and little baggies with white powder "stuff" in it, etc. Every day it seemed like I would find something that would make my stomach turn. I worked there for 4 months and quit, it was a second job anyway.

On another note, I tried the 4 day split workout today with chest and bi's and I barely finished it. Got home about 20 minutes ago and I am hurting. I think I'm gonna keep at this for a bit.
