I ordered a 2015 TRD (I call it the Turd, bad TLA in my opinion) Off Road 6-speed.

I am a manual transmission only guy! That is why I settled on the Tacoma. I am concerned about some bad things I have read lately about the 6-speed. What are the issues with the 6-speed? I plan to tow often with this truck and off road, trailing snowmobile trailers on lakes. Should I be worried about the manual?

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Throw out bearing, and bad mileage are the only complaints I've heard. The auto gets the best mileage.
I wouldn't worry about the transmission itself. You can save yourself a lot of headaches by switching over to Redline MT-90 in the gearbox, gives you a much smoother buttery shift instead of the clunky shift with the factory gear oil.

    Welcome to TW!

    Thanks for the info.

I can't wait to get the truck! As soon as it comes, I am hooking up the snowmobile trailer and going for a trip.

I plan to spray it down with Fluid Film to stop rust. Thoughts?

Be careful, in theory you aren't supposed to tow anything within the first 2500 miles or something because of the break in period. I can't remember how it goes, but you might want to check into that, would suck spending all that money on a new truck and immediately have problems because of something simply overlooked.

I get one more gear with each car I buy: 4 speed AMX, 5-speed WRX and 6-speed TRD.

I could have purchased a white TRD manual like I wanted a month ago, but I saw a red one on the lot, 4 banger...and decided the red was worth the 8 weeks wait. I am hoping next week some time, we shall see.
It really sucks not being able to haul my snowmobile trailer until I get it....
