Question about billy 5100s and rims

These might be dumb questions, but yall know me. When I wanna know . . .

If I put billy 5100s on my truck, will it ride differently? I read that they are made for both on road and off.

If I put 5100s on my truck, will it be lifted? If so, what sized rims can I go with if I put them on or will 5100s make a difference in how big I can go with rims?

Rims -- My rims are stock 15s I think. If I want to go with plus size without doing any lifts, how big can I go? 16?

 

I'm guessing you have a 6 lug Tacoma?

If it's a 6 lug, it should have 6 lug nuts on the wheels.

 

you would need new coils and leafs if u are not running a prerunner. rims are not an issue if you are gonna get 5100s its tires..... unless if you are getting G-Unit rims

 

im pretty sure they make 5100's for both the 5 lug mini's and the 6 luggers. they are a great shock........and depending on the setting you decide on...yes,they can lift the truck, but you can set the fronts on the stock setting also.

 

They do make them for both because I checked.

BUT, my truck is a tacito, 5 lug. Do 5100s make sense on my truck? What would be the advantage to getting them on my 2wd stock truck?

I want to go with bigger tires after I pay the truck off, probably as early as spring, and possibly want new rims, but I can't put a lift on it, and probably wouldn't anyway. So any recommendations on rim size and tire size?

 

Whats the stock tire size on a 2wd Taco?

The 4x4 6 lug trucks dont like big tires without some big money to go with the deal to lift it correctly!

According to the tool, they are 215/70/15? I don't want to put huge rims and tires on, but can I go any bigger without having to make adjustments?

 

you may be able to run a set of 16 inch wheels. im not totally sure about the back spacing and other specs of the 15 inch rim....but maybe check out some camry wheels....you may be able to fit them with no problems.

 

You can install 235-75-R15 on your taco. I have them on my 5 lug. Any bigger and you will need to remove a plate bolted on the front wheel wells. With a lift you can run 31" tires without issues. Good luck!
Even with the 235 tires (just a little bigger stock) I notice a power difference, much bigger than that and changing gears would be a good idea.

You can get bigger rims, just smaller tires. Do you drive offroad or just on the street? IF your on the street you can put 16", or 17" without problems. Just make sure the offset is right. I don't know the numbers off the top of my head but a good rim shop will knif what will fit. You'd just get lower profile tires.

 

I mostly drive on the street, but I never have let the end of the concrete stop me if I wanted or needed to go somewhere.

Well, I still have time. I will keep looking. So bigger rims but less beefy tires, and same sized rims but beefier tires, right?

 

You could go with 16" rims and beefier tires, just don't let the overall diameter exceed 29" or you'll need to remove the boxes I talked about before. There is a thread on it somewhere.

 

Thanks! I'll be sure to get with some pros when I get ready to buy, but it is good to know at least something about what I need and can get by with. I will definitely keep it under 29 total, and store my stock rims if I get new ones.
