If they yell at you either ignore them, or tell them to PISS OFF! Great that you are doing what you want with your truck.....Paid for is nice!

just an update, i went by the shop and checked on it this afternoon. it looks perfect! it is taking an extra day. everything is done, but the fender flares. when they took the 'rock guard' or whatever you call the clear plastic coat at the bottoms off, there evidently was a tiny bit of the glue left on the flares and after painted it shows a little bit. they were still on the rack in the paint booth and he showed me. so they are stripping them again and painting again as we speak. should be ready tomorrow! :) cant wait, hehehehe

one thing i never thought of until just now, they used the oem black paint from the original truck color code which is from 2006, which is the way i wanted it, but does anyone know if that is the same color/paint as the new tacomas?

look like totals are going to be about:

    $500 - tires - bought seperate
    $200 - spacers - bought seperate

$2600 - paint every inch of truck with oem paint /labor (i did labor to remove the bed liner, brackets, bedcover, roof rack and am going to put back on)

    body work:
    - crease/dent in tailgate
    - bad dent in rear left door where car hit it in parking lot, 1 big door ding, 2 minor door dings
    - replaced front left fender (mentioned separate because these can be used from a pre-2012 if yours are ok)
    - couple small door dings in left front door
    - 1 small door ding in right front door
    - dent in right rear door, like bad door ding
    - fix left rear corner of bed where i scraped a tree

$2100 - other front end parts (some like hood aftermarket)

and i am going to throw in a $200 extra "tip" i guess you would call it

work ended up tad under budget, but seeing results and the fact that the guy called me in to see the flaw they found in the fender flares paint and they doing it over, i plan on throwing in the extra. i seriously doubt anyone would point out a barely noticeable flaw in paint on the bottom of the fender flares!

tires are going to be put on by a friend with a tire shop, so no cost but maybe a night at the bar so add $50 :)

so if my math is right, total should be about (give or take):
    ---------------------------------------------
    $5650

Wow congrats. Just start refreshing the bushings and other suspension stuff and your truck will be all new and good to go for another 130k

i already upgraded to iron man coils in the front, 3" lift with 275lb extra capability, iron man front struts, dacor rear 3" AAL, bilstein 5100 struts (made for that height) already. currently, on the streets rides 10x better than stock, off-road is really good, only complaint is the up travel is a tad fast, but down travel is smooth as a mercedes benz, lol. as far as bushings, well you read my mind! its squeeking and moaning like all tacomas of that age, so thats next on the list. is there a thread somewhere that has a simple list on which bushings tend to ware the worst and need to be replaced on trd pre-runner sport? that would help ALOT! instead of 'picking one and replacing' and see how it goes????

You could take your seats out, put new carpet or mat in, which ever you prefer. Then get some Katskin seat covers, you'd be set.

I already got a set of new trd seat covers while back from a friend at a dealership who installed leather on a truck :) that install is also on list :) was trying to get mats, but no one has grey ones :( carpet would be great, but that would be way down the line

As far as I can remember there is no thread about bushings at all. Definitely no reports on which ones are weakest

I'm with you OP. New trucks offer me nothing I don't have with my 09 Taco. Its paid for, mechanically flawless and beautiful. There is no reason to ever sell it.
