I noticed the other day that I have a inner tie rod end going bad and was wondering if there's any recommendations for new ones. For example everyone says that toyota oem cv shafts are much better quality than the ones you get from the auto parts store. I was wondering if it's the same for tie rod ends and such.

    Thanks Steve

I see. No experience on second gens yet but on the wife's 98 4runner I used Oem outers and Napa premium(555) inners. No issues.

I've been using the moog ones from rock auto. Never broken one but they seem to be very similar to Oem quality. Zerk fitting on the outer tie rod end.

Just giving options, I can't personal give an opinion on if it's a good or bad idea to run a tie rod that's so beefed up. I know there's a member on here running them(http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...att-2013-super-white-dcsb-tacoma-tx-pro.html?). That said, I'm also running the greasable moog without problems.

Yea sorry if it sounded like I was putting you down btw...

I guess maybe for that guys application it might be alright because it looks like he's going for more of a desert runner but for rock crawling I could see those being a terrible idea.

What did you "notice" that says the tie rod end is going bad? Just curious.

I had the truck jacked up putting the tire on and I just gave it a shake just going over everything and I had a lot of side to side play and saw it was moving inside the boot on the end of the steering rack.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. Those ready lift tie rods look sweet but that's huge cash and I agree it's better to replace tierods than the rack.
