Looks great OP. You're putting ideas in my head.... :drevil: And from the looks of it, a lot of others' heads too. Maybe this will be a new trend! They are charging you very well for all that... That price breakdown doesn't seem bad at all. I wouldn't mind seeing a parts list, did you give them one or did they already know how to convert it?

Did you get your answer on whether or not the paint was the same then and now?

no they didnt give me a detailed parts list with parts numbers and all, reading other threads i got the just of the parts needed, i more or less just started out pointing out the kinda particular stuff and the guy stopped me and said so basically you want it to look like a new one with same color scheme, color matched bumper, grille, etc. i said exactly, just like the new TRD sports, then he knew what i wanted. they used the color code from the truck to get the paint, which is what i wanted, still wondering if it is the same exact color the use on new ones?

BTW i thought hard about telling them to paint the front bumper lower insert part too, still up in the air on that, anyone have thoughts on that?

The paint looks great IMO, I wouldn't be to concerned with it. However, since it is new I would look into treatments for it. I know of some that cost a couple grand but seeing as you just dumped 5.5K into this, you probably aren't eager to do that. Give it a good wax

what do you mean treatments, what does that do,would that help and how much does that cost? they said give it at least 3-4 days before a good washing, BUT if i do best to not use soap or detergent or anything, they wiped it down and rinsed with water right before i took it, i know its not 100% shined like a new penney yet. .i plan on waiting a week. they said best to wait a couple weeks before waxing, especially since it cold right now, so i plan on waiting about 4 weeks.

I didn't see your edit. Look at pictures on Google of other Tacomas with that painted, I honestly don't recall seeing it ever being painted but I could be wrong.

OP, I've been looking for the thread I was talking about and I just can't find it. A TW member took his truck to a renowned shop, not just a local one. For $2000 or $4000, I can't remember, they took his truck for a few days, kept it in a special shop, ran it under all sorts of lights to find imperfections, went through probably multiple paint treatments, yada yada-more than your average detail shop could do. It was something meant to preserve the paint permanently. If anyone remembers this please try to find some more info. Sorry I can't find it. I'll tell you this, of the thousands of members on TW I have only seen one do it so it's not essential.

Looking good .Money well spent. Lower valance is gray right. Maybe paint it with some kind of trim paint black .Its satin finish so not glossy .Goss black might be a little too much but what ever you do,truck will still look good.[IMG]

Looks good, I think if you cleaned up and maybe took your time and painted in the fender wells etc, it would look even better, the fresh paint against the more weathered fender wells kind of sticks out.. But it's cool what you had done, it does look like a new one.

Did they also trim it out, meaning did they paint in your door jams etc?
