Bought everything on Amazon. I ordered 1" heat shrink which works perfect on a 3/8th CB antenna with the LEDs. But if you have a smaller whip you are wrapping the 1" would be too large.

Did you wrap a small whip or a CB antenna? With the thicker antenna the LEDS wrapped perfectly around it. I recommend the waterproof just for an added layer of protection

Which CB antenna did you use? Thats a nice setup CB Antenna, LED Whip and Flag all in one! Thats a nice 3 in 1!

I used a 4' FireStik. I don't know if you would still be able to transmit with it. I've got another antenna for that. And I wrapped mine all the way to the top. I can slide a flag on if it want but I am planning on using this for tailgating. I've got a whip with a flag that's longer

Yeah. I think my whip is 1/4". A little smaller than my Firestik. It doesn't whip around quite as bad as my cb antenna though because it's lighter.

I haven't tried mine while driving yet. I like how's it thicker then my 1/4" whip. Wrapping that would have sucked I think

1200 bucks later, frame is "straitened"
its still bent to shit, particularly the cross member that the steering rack mounts to, putting the driver side him about an inch higher up than the passenger side. It bumpsteers like a slut, so I made a whole new cross member including lower arm tabs (also bent to shit).

IF I solid mount the lowers, at the correct camber and castor, and gusset the upper arm (make it double shear), I should be good to go for a little while UNTIL i bend something... right? Only then would I need the adjustability that a heimed upper would give me (for castor / camber)... right?

My cam tabs are shot, lower arm mounts shot, crossmember is shot. Figure I can kill three birds with one stone and take care of it all.

I'm gonna cook up a little 3d model and post it up to see what you guys think

Yeah. I think it would have been fine had I used the non waterproof LEDs. I am running my whip and my antenna on the heavy duty firestik springs. When I hit the dunes my antenna has been hitting my cab hard enough to dent it but the light whip doesn't.

Solid mounting the lowers is fine as long as you have heim uppers.

I don't have heimed uppers yet. Would it be fine to solid mount now and add bungs to the uppers in a month or so?
heres a little draft. all 1/8" with 1/4" plates on the really high stress area. might just do 1/8" plates instead of 1/4" but i really don't want to deal with this again

As long as your alignment is set so you aren't chewing through tires, I guess it would be ok if you had to do it. Can you just do the uppers at the same time?

1/4 is over kill. 3/16 would be fine.

Not likely, my only chance to get this level of project done is tomorrow through sunday, when I'll have access to an actual shop with tools.
I can probably heim the uppers back in SB pretty soon though.
Should I try and design something that integrates lower arm mount tabs instead of a solid piece? Solid piece is probably stronger but I'm not sure how im going to drill the lca bolt out in the perfect spot, i'm thinking it might be easier to bolt tabs to the lower arm and get the alignment set and weld the tabs into place?
I know these are stupid questions but I'm just trying to get the design and stuff done before tomorrow so i can maximize my work time

maybe use a similar slot as stock for adjustment then use a weld washer to weld it into the correct place?
