Well wishes sent your way. The internet will now be your best friend. Search for all the information you can. Become knowledgeable with what you have. Seek out a specialist in your area. These are the things I did when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Your doctors stating that they don't know what it is would be the sign to seek a specialist. Do your own research, just don't let the doctors refer you. I speak from experience on this part.

Again well wishes and good luck with your issue. Just remember to stay positive.

Well after a lot of worrying over the weekend. I finally got up the nerve to do some research. Here is what I found out so far.

The doctor had never seen this type on the brain before personally. It is a non cancerous type of syst or tumor called Lipoma, a fatty growth usually found on the back or under the arms but can grow anywhere in the body. Usually not painful but ugly to look at most can be easily surgically removed. Usually an injury such as impact to the skin can cause them. I dont know the location in my head but a little over a year ago is when my headaches really started and it was after being hit in the head at work with a steel door. It knocked me out and I had to get stitches. From what I have read they grow slowly but in rare situations can grow quickly and cause problems. When in the head can be dangerous and cause pressure on the brain. That is what I am worried about. The headaches have slowly gotten worse and worse over time. My doctor is sending me to a neurologist in the area sometime soon to get it checked out. The only other thing she has really told me is to lay off caffine.

Thinking about it the last few days has left me broken and in a crying nerd pile. (trying to keep spirits as high as possible) even though I am so thankful it is not cancerous I still am scared. I dont have a family history (that I know of) of having any type of tumors. My grandmother had breast cancer, but nothing related there. But i guess could leave me vulnerable to other types.

My girlfriend was more upset than I was. But we are all doing okay now. Hoping for the best. Thank you all for your continuing prayers during this tough trial in my life.

    -Zack

Sorry to hear about this. Since its non-cancerous, and your doctors don't seem to be in a major panic, my gut feeling is that your gonna be OK.:) :)

    Keep your chin up bud.

Try to find out if there are any support groups and/or online forums that address what you have. This helped me out big time. It also helped me in finding the right specialist to perform my surgery.

Have a list of questions for the neurologist so that you can be as informed as possible when you leave their office and that you don't forget anything later after you leave.

I would assume if surgery is the next step ask about the different procedures and what are the pros and cons. They might be able to zap the tumor without cracking your skull.

If it is determined that they will have to do a surgical procedure that requires a neurosurgeon then do some research on as many as you can find. Find out which ones are recommended and how many procedures have they performed.

And lastly, stay positive. Whatever the outcome just remember you have your family as a support group as well as this forum.

I can understand you being scared! I'm sure anyone would be. Glad to hear you got the nerve to do some reading up on the subject. Maybe that has made you feel better. You'll continue to be in my thoughts and I'm looking forward to hearing about a good outcome. :)

I dont know if workers comp would cover it or not because I quit there last week. I thought perhaps the stress of that place could have been the cause but they are continuing on even now that I am gone from there.

Thank you all. You have no idea how much of a help this is until you are in a similar situation.

I have to get an MRI next week or so. We will see what that shows. Just as a precaution. Then I have to talk to the neurologist.

Remember that you are in charge of your health care. Excellent to get the MRI for precautionary reasons. Thanks for the update and I'll keep you in my prayers Zack.

Thanks for your support. I got the MRI today and am going to see a Neurologist soon. They will be able to tell me more info. I really don't know any more than i did before. Ugh... Even if it is nothing just knowing there is an abnormality in there is frightening.
