Leaf spring tsb

I have a 06 prerunner that I bought about 6 months ago 30k on the odo and I just got a letter in the mail concerning the tsb. I am the second owner so I didn't think the tsb would transfer to me but I'm going to give it a shot. What reason are you guys telling them to get them to replace the leaf packs? I want the new ones because it tends to sag when I tow or haul anything but not sure if that would be a good enough reason for Toyota.

 

TSB follows the vehicle. Let them know of the sag and the bed bounces on the bump stops with a few bags of mulch or 3 or more dead hookers.

 

There have been safety concerns that a broken leaf could puncture the fuel tank, safety recalls always follow the truck, first owner or not.

The new tsb springs will help your bottoming for a while, then it will do it again, at least mine did. I would still highly recommend having it done, you can always add Firestone RideRites later as I did.

The letter you got in the mail is not about the TSB. It's a RECALL.

A TSB is a replacement or repair for a 'complaint' that you may have while your truck is still under the factory warranty. For example: When I bought my truck, I requested the dealership replace my original 2 leaf springs for the 3 leaf springs (TSB). It was free while my truck was still under the factory 3/36 warranty.

A Recall is a safety issue that applies to the life of the vehicle of which the recall applies to. As the owner, you are not forced to have the recall done. Recalls should be FREE. For example: I've had my 3 leaf TSB springs on my truck for the past 7 years. Under the new RECALL - they will replace them for free when I get a final notice. I got a PRE-notice in the mail last week.

 

I also got the "pre notice" when will the final notice be issued?

 

Toyota hasn't stated they are replacing the leaf packs in the recall

A good buddy of mine who works for Toyota corp said they will most likely throw a couple more clamps at the leaf springs and install a deflector on the gas tank . This ofcourse is all hear-say at this point

 

Adding a clamp makes the most sense

made in Mexico stamped all over them, what ever happend to japanese parts ?

 

Only the motors are made in Japan IIRC
