Looking for suggestions on a treadmill. Something in the $1000-2000 range.

What's a good brand that'll be high quality and last? This won't be used hard...typical home treadmill. I think it should have adjustable incline and variable speeds. I don't need connectivity with my idevices. I'm not even sure if I need all that fitness tracking, heart rate stuff. But then again...maybe I do?? There are soooo many features on these things, that I don't know what's what or why I want or need them.

I used to go to Planet Fitness for years... Loved watching TV while walking/jogging. I'm not sure I could 'stay' on the thing long enough if I didn't have a TV show to watch the whole way thru.

I've been looking briefly at the NordicTracks. The Commercial 2450 seems really cool with 15" TV on it. But - that was the first thing I looked at.
    ???

Never purchased a treadmill before......My husband is starting to think we need one. When the husband thinks we need one - it's a huge concern. He's not physical or athletic! LOL

What have you guys run into? Thoughts...??
    Thanks!

honestly, every time i see a treadmill at someones house its either covered in dust or used to hang laundry. i would recommend joining a gym together as at least it allows some variety or just spending more time outside.

I would just look through Craigslist. Youll find many lightly used, newer models, on sale for good price off.

I know when iw as looking for a treadmill it took a few days but i ended up getting a pretty much unused one that retails for 1k for ~300. When i sold it (i cant run on tredmills...prefer road/trail running) i actually sold it for 350.

Since it sounds like this is an "impulse" type buy i wouldnt go spend money on a new one but would rather buy used and save money

    tonneau,
The wife bought one at Walmart a couple weeks ago for about $300 its very quiet too. She's a physical therapist so she has some knowledge over these things.

I used to belong to Planet Fitness for years. The hardest part is getting there.
With my new schedule, fighting the crowds at the gym is enough to turn around and go home.

I have a recumbent bike that I've had since 03. Sure.... It's covered in dust but I still use it. :)

We have a pre-cor 9.23 Doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles. It has some programmable runs etc. Incline and speed adjustments. We got a good deal at dicks several years ago real good deal...... The treadmills that fold up aren't nearly as solid as the ones which do not. I have had both and there is a difference. The pre-cor doesn't fold up. We do use ours, plus my wife and daughter still go to the gym. It's nice for them too when for whatever reason they can't get there. I think the bells and whistles add to the cost and doesn't do a thing.

I've been looking briefly. That's how I stumbled on the Nordictrack 2450. Someone wanted $1500 for one on Craigslist. They said it was never used. I can buy a new one for $1700. Used ones aren't always worth the price. Used is definitely an option, but I don't want to end up with something that's beat to shit.

I've had a Nordictrack for 10+ years now - it's been pretty much bulletproof and expect for some recent knee problems slowing me down I use it almost every morning before work.

I got it from Sears and they have a good selection. Definitely spend the money for a good one. I've used cheap ones and they are just that - cheap.

What model did you get? Granted, 10 years ago...they might not make the exact same model.

What do you like about it most? What do you least like about it?

My parents have a Walmart version and I've tried it. Just walking on it, it was clunky. I can't imagine what it would do if I tried to jog on it. It suites them just fine. But - if it doesn't 'feel' right, I certainly won't want to use it.

    It's a C2050 - I'm sure it's been replaced by now.

It's just a solid, basic machine. It has a good sized deck so you don't feel confined when using it. It's smooth even 10 years later - not clunky like you were saying.

Only complaint, and I wouldn't call it much of one, is that the heart rate monitor is flakey at best - but I don't care about it.

Very true and im lucky where i live there is a lot of military. Had to filter through and wait but there were/are some good deals for pretty much unused treadmills. Plenty of junk ones too though. But if your patient and check daily youll find one

After some research... We ordered a LifeSpan TR1200i from Amazon. However, about 3 days later, the vendor cancelled our order. Apparently, they're out of stock nationwide. So, instead...we ran down to the local Sears and bought a NordicTrack Elite 3700.

The box it came in was HUGE. Filled the entire truck bed hauling it home. The husband and I couldn't carry it to the basement.... We had a couple guys at the house cleaning windows this morning and we asked them to help. The two of them (and my husband) got it in the basement. The one guy was OLD and I swear, he was gonna have a heart attack! LOL (we felt bad). It only took 5 minutes and wasn't that far....but..... We slapped a $50 bill in each of their hands and I couldn't be happier.... Happy Holidays!

So, I'm getting ready to do my first walking/jogging on this thing.

This will allow me to have 10 beers instead of 5!! Bahaahahaaa!!! :D;) I couldn't resist!
