Below the deck. Dont need to worry about spilling gas on the deck after taking the filler nozzle out.

I'm thinking above to keep away the possibility of the tire hitting it.

    Good point.

If I put it below the. It will be lower than the stock location. The cross bar is basically where it used to be.

If above then I will add a plate with a low point drain to allow fuel to not puddle.

Section out the cross bar a little a bolt it to that.

Need to get some heavy rubber for the filler neck surround so I'll leave that for another day. On to the tail lights!

I'd have the filler neck below the rail but move it as far forward as it can go and fab a plate bracket to mount it to the bed rail (keeping it about two inches behind the side rail so it won't be contacted by rock, tree limbs, etc...).

If you go up top you could use an aircraft style filler recessed into the deck and just chop the stock filler off and use a piece of clear fuel line to connect it. It would be cool until it's covered in four inches of mud. I'd mount the stock one underneath.

At least fuel prices are low or someone in Houston has a easy target.

Might want to sleeve it for future proofing when prices increase if you take this to less than ideal areas.

The lights are stop/turn/tail. I'll have a secondary backup light.

Thanks buddy. It's amazing what one piece of plate does for a project. Maybe I'll get to weld it on tomorrow. :)

Truck looks mean from the rear currently.

What is your states law regarding the wheel being covered/mudflaps?

    Thanks.

There isn't one. I've been running around for three months with just the toolbox on the frame and haven't had any problems.

What about side marker or clearance lights for the rear?

Can't see how I'd need side markers. Are you talking about the rear or up on the headache rack?

I just looked it up for kicks since I would be surprised if that did not have a law. Here it is. I was going to say that I would at least protect the back of your cab from rocks being thrown, you are lucky you are in a state without rust concerns. Been pulled over myself for driving a vehicle around mid stages of a build for not flaps and got a ticket. Got pulled over for no hood as well, the list goes one.

§ 547.606. SAFETY GUARDS OR FLAPS REQUIRED. (a) A road
tractor, truck, trailer, truck-tractor in combination with a
semitrailer, or semitrailer in combination with a towing vehicle
that has at least four tires on the rearmost axle of the vehicle or
the rearmost vehicle in the combination shall be equipped with
    safety guards or flaps that:
    (1) are of a type prescribed by the department; and
    (2) are located and suspended behind the rearmost
wheels of the vehicle or the rearmost vehicle in the combination
within eight inches of the surface of the highway.
    (b) This section does not apply to a truck-tractor operated
    alone or a pole trailer.

Here is what the TX Transportation Code defines as a truck....

§ 541.201. VEHICLES. In this subtitle:
    (7) "Light truck" means a truck, including a pickup
truck, panel delivery truck, or carryall truck, that has a
manufacturer's rated carrying capacity of 2,000 pounds or less.
    or
    (21) "Truck" means a motor vehicle designed, used, or
    maintained primarily to transport property.

So by the rule I don't have to run mud flaps since I only have two tires on the rear axle. I think I remember looking this up at some point in the past, but thanks for the reminder.

I hadn't thought about the back of the cab though. I'll have to see what I can do about that.

Makes perfect sense when I'm running 35" mud terrains, but I'm not going to complain. :D
