What compressor when airing up

what compressor do you guys use/prefer after airing down in the sand then needing to air back up? please list where it was purchased and aprox how much..

 

I've had this compressor for a few years and the other day I tried it on the truck outlet in the bed and to my suprise it worked great. I had the engine off and the headlights and foglights on and it had plenty of power, in fact it didn't run any slower than it does on the power from the wall.

I bought if for like $40 or $50 at walmart and then purchased a kit with a blowgun and tire filler.

you dont carry that in the vehicle do you? that seems like it would work great-more than enough.. I was hoping for something smaller/portable.. similar to the Viair 300p or similar.. I have always been a big fan of Viair as I have used them for a number of years on customs vehicles I use to build.. They are very good for the most part duty free cycle compressors. Looking for longevity and reliability..

 

No I don't carry it with me. I just found out it worked yesterday. I may bring it with me when I wheel but I wouldn't always carry it around. I have a bed box also so it wouldn't be sliding around in the bed.

I was just informing you that that was a fairly cheap solution that would work.

hey chris-how big of a tank do you bring? I really just want something small I could hide in the cubby in the bed or under the rear seat.. Co2 no question will be quick though.. and then i have to go get it filled etc.

 

Right now, after much research, im looking at buying either a Viair 400 or 450 compressor, or a Source sport CO2 system in 10 or 15lb size. Its a tough call for me right now due to a few things:
I want to add ARB air lockers and a air horn to my truck, so I dont know if the portable CO2 is the best. But being portable is nice for the times I need some air and dont have the truck right by me. The CO2 also fills tires in like 1/4 the time of the Viair systems. But then you also have to get the CO2 tank refilled periodically and what if you run out when you really need air? The CO2 would be a little cheaper for the initial setup too.
Those are some of the things im trying to weigh out and decide which to go with.

I'd vote for the viair on board system. Like you said, you don't have to worry about running out, and you can use it for your train horns. I have a 480 in my garage that will go in my Taco, when / if I get one.
