What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Went out to Cougar Buttes today did some wheelin.


Rubbed a bolder with my cab. Thought I was going to break the quarter window...

 

All CB radios are 4 watts due to FCC regulations. Thus:

I=W/V

I=4/12

I= 0.333333333333 amps.

15 amps would be major over kill. 2-5 amps would more then enough. As it has a speaker and some lights no doubt too.

Thanks Monte. But the cb power cable has an in-line fuse. Probably should have done a little more research before asking questions but the girl was shoe shopping so I was stuck sitting there haha figured TW would help pass the time

 

They usually do but they tend to be right by the radios not the battery.

 

And I need the fuse near the battery, correct?

 

Yes, always put the fuse as close to the battery as possible.

 

Yes. Cause it the wire have an arch and pops the fuse by the radio, the wire from the battery to the fuse holder is still hot so really it'll still arch and burn down the truck in that scenario.

 

I'd do both. The CB's inline fuse protects the radio, and the other protects your truck.

Yes, preprogrammed it before installation. I like the instantaneous MPG, AVG, DTE, and the actual gallons remaining of the Ultra Gauge.

Maybe I need to play with it some more and I will get to like it as much the UG.

Ripped my wire harness to the windshield washer pump on a trail... Cut the other wire to see if it would stop, nope.

Guess using the fuse as a switch is a little ghetto so I will be fixing this soon enough.
