I personally would let the dealership know that because this happened, it has diminished the faith you have in them to work on your truck in the future. That will probably put them in the position of offering you something to help restore that confidence, hopefully. That should happen if the dealership is conscientious. I don't think you can reasonably expect more than what they might offer. If they don't offer anything extra, I would look for another dealership if you have that option.

If you do end up staying at that dealership for future service, I WOULD demand that whoever did your tire rotation never go near your truck again.

I agree, they scratched my brand new wheels on a tire rotation, made them replace all the rims but nothing else, different situation but I know how you feel.
I always check their work before I drive away, guess I should start checking lug nuts too.

Personally I don't think this is at all an issue with someone feeling entitled. There are really several things to consider:

-As mentioned, the CarFax. It's essential that this not show up as a wreck on there.
-The quality of repairs. On a brand new vehicle all parts must be new, no body filler, no "metal resurfacing," no "used" anything.
-Longevity of repairs. I don't think you're entitled to an extended warranty on the entire truck or free oil changes and I think asking for that stuff sort of undermines your case because it sounds opportunistic. Instead I would want a warranty on these specific repairs to protect you against paint discoloration, future failure of replaced mechanical parts, premature rust, etc.

One thing a lot of people don't realize is that accidents like this do happen to vehicles before they are sold, whether in transit, at the factory or dealership, or wherever. They don't melt them down and start over; they fix them and we buy them.

I would demand this "repair" not be turned into CARFAX under any circumstance, and if you see it come up on a CARFAX history report in the near future, they should have to owe you the equivalent depreciation.

If this is too difficult to comprehend, a full vehicle swap ,seeing yours is still brand new would not be unreadable. But glad to hear they are stepping up and are going to repair the damage, without causing a scene in the lobby.

and this is why i stand by my truck at the dealership when i am forced to take it there when they do any sort of work. And have my torque wrench ready to check their work... they really dont like when i pull that out, but when i find half the shit they touch under torqued, the service manager hears about it as i check it in their service bay.

That sucks man, id be worried about front suspension components if it was on the front, and extended warrenty for the life of the truck for sure (not that id want that dealer touching my vehicle ever again)

To be honest, id accept nothing less than a new truck two month old truck getting dropped onto suspension components is not a good way to start the life of a truck.... new one for sure

It seems like this isn't an uncommon story. I was at the dealership not too long ago dropping mine off to get a new starter and was talking to the guy whose Taco came in on a flatbed. He got his tires rotated and then watched his tire pass him on the Pontchartrain Causeway, a 26 mile bridge without shoulders.

Make sure they replace every part that wheel touches, lugs, bearing, tie rods, etc. And don't be afraid to tell them that you've lost confidence in their ability to do simple maintenance on your vehicle and if they want you to continue to be a customer they will need to make it worth your time.

so last i checked no human is perfect and this is why they sell insurance.

you have a choice of your ins company fixing it at a place of your choice or let the dealer do it,both are fine.
as far as extras dont expect anything as they dont have to do shit.

i bet it was a new kid, they have new techs do the oil changes and tire crap as it doesnt pay much.a engine rebuild would be done by the best tech,he gets paid the most.

not beaning mean just telling the truth, shit happens

Maybe see if you can score a nice baseball hat or T-shirt for your trouble. I doubt you will recieve anything greater.
Why would you want to have your vehicle serviced there ever again? Avoid the inepts.

Lawyers, unless you really trust one, they are the only ones who will gain from this.

Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Which is why the dealer carries liability insurance. Why make a claim with your own insurer and suffer premium hikes later on?

@Texas Taco Too: What is the dealer replacing? The hub flange and wheel bearing need to be replaced (they are susceptible to premature wear even without this accident). You should also ask for extended corrosion perforation warranty on the door they repaired.

    not how it works--
if you make a claim with your own ins they ask for the money from the dealers ins,if they dont pony up then they sue them and get it.this a clear at fault accident and dealer is responsible.
you dont suffer at all and its some one you trust(your own ins company is on your side!!

If it was me, all I would ask for is a loaner during repairs. And maybe an oilchange or two. Or a hat. Maybe a genuine Toyota coffee cup.

I get the dealership fucked up and didn't tighten the lug nuts. But I also get that they are doing what they can to repair your truck to how it was before you came to them. Yes they dropped the ball. Do you deserve more after they fixed your truck and you're not out a thing. Honestly....

NO. You're not. They are making it whole. If it showed deminished value on your carfax or showed up on carfax at all then I would say yes. But seriously... let's look at it from this point of view.

You hit your neighbors mail box with your truck. You then proceed to buy your neighbor a new mailbox, post, and concrete. Then you do the work to make your neighbor whole again right. You're done. Then you're neighbor comes over and says

"Hey I know you fixed my mailbox and made it look just the same. But you think you could pay for irrigation services for the next 5 years on my lawn too.... I mean that mailbox was brand new. "

You'd tell your neighbor to take a long walk off a short pier right.
