Quote from Jan 2015 issue MT Confidential column (pg 22): "We hear that despite being 9 years old, the next Toyota Tacoma will basically be redone in similar fashion to the current Tundra - exterior, interior, and content work with carryover powertrains." Take it for what it's worth.

I use to take Rumor Trend seriously back in the day when their articles had good insight and well written. Nowadays I'd take their info with a grain of salt.

I'm on my third 2nd gen, I'm not buying a fourth. They need to redesign this bitch if they want another chunk of $$$ from me.

I'm not buying it either. As much as I respect the durability of the current drive train and shy away from the unproven, the current setup is dated and uncompetitive.

Whether they redesign the tacoma or not, I'm planning on keeping this one indefinitely.

Toyota service sucks. I'll be looking at other brands.

12.7 mpg on my Tacoma yesterday. That after dropping $1000 on a full tune up.

Toyota will not be my next brand either.

Personally I think all they need to do is revamp the interior and work a little on the shift points in 5-speed auto. Love the looks of the current Gen2 and I think the current V6 is adequate. Making the TRD supercharger more affordable would quiet those asking for more power though...

This truck needs a full redesign to stay competitive. The mpgs are terrible and how about some disk brakes in the rear. Now with the 2nd gen frames starting to rust, it's time for a full new truck that actually address some of the problems that these trucks develop.

So still 236hp? Why is toyota so boring......they totally neglect the Tacoma despite it being so popular.

I just find it weird that Toyota would hype up and then release the trd pro on a body style they're dropping in the next year... in all honestly, I don't see toyota redesigning the tacoma until at least 2017.

I would hope for a 6 speed auto, direct injection, and maybe some weight saving design changes a la f150 variety. But not for a least a year or two.... 2016 or early release 2017.

When I had my Tacoma in for service a couple of months ago, while in the customer waiting area, I was looking at the new car issue of Motor Trend and it indicated the rear disk brakes would be a mid-year upgrade. Be interesting to see if it comes to fruition.
