Ok I have pricing on the aluminum basket now. The basket is $400+shipping. CNC cut and formed from 1/8" 5052 aluminum, dimpled died holes. $450+shipping for the basket that comes with 2 tube rails for the top to mount a bike mount, snowboard mounts or whatever it may be.

I liked the basket from your first design. Any reason for the style revision?

The over all shape and design you liked better?

I redid the design for a couple reasons...1-made it all bolt together for cost from the laser shop, and 2 to keep the price of shipping down.

The overall shape is different due to trying to keep wind noise down... I honestly like the original design better for a low profile rack and which I may have two designs, but both be bolt together.. The original design was all one piece and cost way to much.

I guess both? Granted I wasn't able to tell certain aspects from the very first picture, but it looked as though the front was slanting back and the rear end was vertical.

    Kind of like: /__________|
whereas now it looks like: /__________\

I also liked the 'pan' bottom, as opposed to the bars, but I can understand cost on that. These are just my thoughts, others opinions may vary.

The first design was this here in the picture. With the whole thing being one big piece of aluminum, it was more then double the cost to have cut and formed.

Wow, that's a big cost difference. I have no issues with a bolt together design.

Whats the mounting width of the bed rack? I'd love to rock one of these on my 1st Gen Tundra, and I know the box width should be very close to that of the 2nd Gen Tacoma. Would it be difficult to change the width slightly to accommodate the Tundra if needed?

The dimension of the inside rails is roughly 56 9/16". I'm not sure what the 1st gen Tundras are.

Well I had hoped to finish welding the parts tonight after work....But I received a call from the gf that someone had hit the Jeep after she just parked and waked inside....Who the hell hits parked cars in a decent open area?..

Well the hood has a much bigger gap then before down by the grille, and the fender is pushed in some as well... Its hard to tell by the picture..

Ouch, it could be worse though. Maybe once I get one of these racks from you it'll go towards this in some form or another haha :)

Just got home from finishing up on the rack. Here are finished photos minus being on my truck. (GF took the truck today so I could get a rental for her)

I will drop it off to powder coat tomorrow after work and I will have it back next week..

For those of you who are interested, please PM me so I can get a list going for a group buy.
