why is my passenger side higher than the driver.

hey guys. Just put a 2 inch strut spacer under the front of my 1996 Tacoma 4wd. everything went back on (on both sides) like it came off. now I have 8 inches of clearance on my drivers side and 9 on the passenger side. What could be the problem? new shocks? I did tighten the passenger side lower a-arm bolts whithout the tire on and it in the air. I tightened the drivers side while the tire was on and on the ground.

Weight of the battery, gas tank, etc makes the driver's side sag a tad bit more than the passenger side.

so im just going to have to accept the lean? I do have a yellow top 6 pack battery and a full tank of gas.

 

Don't know what all is involved with a strut spacer lift, but many manufacturers offer up a trim piece for the driver's side to account for the lean.

1" seems like a lot though. Most spacers/trim pieces are 10 mm, which is less than 1/2"

 

I do think the struts are needing to be changed. It rides rough in the front. Do you think new struts will fix the lean, or maybe just add a 10 mm spacer?

 

It's weird, I never really had the lean issue pre or post lift.

When I put the new suspension on, I didn't use the 10mm spacer and I still don't have the lean.

 

I just ordered a set of Monroe quick struts for 200 bucks. So it will either fix my lean and ride or just ride. I have a buddy who owns a machine shop so I'm sure I can get him to fab up a spacer to fix the lean.

 

Talk to TomTom here - he has some wisdom with this I believe due to a recent lift job he worked on. I think it was him anyway!

 

It sounds like the famous Taco Lean.. It's usually only a 1/2 inch (2005 to 2015). But i just bought a 1/4 inch spacer from Toytec.com for $23.00 plus shipping. They say a 1/4 spacer will bring it up 1/2 inch. Hope that helps. I'm to OCD to not have it sit level.

 

well, as springs age, they get weak. the added weight on the driver side vs the passenger side causes the springs on that side to compress more. so, how much do you weigh jonathan? i'd go with the last suggestion to get a spacer from toytec.
