Changed the oil today and noticed the drain plug had oil dripping off of it. Thought maybe the service department forgot to put a crush washer on it the previous oil change. Then when I got back under it from a different angle no the the upper part of oil pan and the bell housing are covered in a light coat of oil. Is it possible that it's from an old crush washer or am I looking at something more serious. I measured the oil that came out of the engine and it wasalmost 5.4qts, so I guess the leak isn't bad. Definitely clean and re-asses soon. That could have misted up from a drain plug leak.

Not sure if it because i've been thinking about the leak but I noticed more today that the truck has a delay. I actually noticed it about a month ago but didn't think much about it, and today it seemed to do it more than normal. I press on the accelerator and the engine revs a little and then after a second or two the truck really takes off. Almost like its in limp mode and then suddenly its full power. I haven't smashed the pedal down to full throttle on take off but pretty much no matter far I push it down at first the truck will only accel slowly for the first couple of seconds then lunges forward.

have you looked at other surrounding possibilities? CV boots, diff plugs, U joint grease?
you'll be surprised how far oils can travel at hwy speeds under the truck
the cross member is saturated too.

does it have a strong stench like gear oil?

looks like its the oil pan gasket

btw brake parts cleaner or throttle body cleaner work wonders for cleaning up this.

I could see much with the skid plate on, but I can say its not from the diff plugs. There are some clumps of grease from the u-joints that flung off from the last service but the grease from that is in a couple clumps as you can see in the picture. I did smell it and it didn't have a strong smell like gear oil.

Will do, I may not even clean it and just bring it to Toyota, but I've heard unless it drips a certain amount they will not warranty it. Not sure if thats true or not. It doesn't look like its spread any further back than the bellhousing

Looks like its leaking from Engine rear main seal (From under that black plastic cover)
Check PCV valve first. If its clean you may have to replace seal.
Its not going leak very fast, but at some point you need to consider replacing it.

What would I be looking for when I check the PCV valve? Also thats the black cylinder in the hose on the left side "If you are sitting in the drivers seat" of the engine correct?

It should open freely, if you are not sure just get new one they are not expensive. Its possible its stuck creating back pressure that pushes oil out.

I am talking about little plastic cover right where engine meets transmission (above black oil pan on the picture)
Thats your inspection window inside bell housing. If there is oil on the inside there, its a rear main seal.

Well, made an appointment during lunch and just going to drop it off in the morning. Extended warranty will cover the parts and labor but I will have to pay the diag fee. Figure its cheaper to just pay the $132 fee and have them fix it than try to fix it on my own.

I did a thread on this last year. Was leaking in the same place. Took it to a shop and they said it was a very very minor rear main seal leak so I shouldn't really worry about it. I was informed if I wanted to change it it would be around 1100 bucks to do so from the fact that they have to drop the transmission to get to that little 15 dollar seal.

Well just talked to the dealer and they said it was the oil pan gasket. Everything is done and should be picking it up in a bit. Starting to wonder if this was cause by another dealership. A friend who is also on here saw my pic on facebook and said his was leaking just like mine. After talking we both brought our trucks to the same dealer for the front main seal to be replaced. The dealer didn't tell me me what all was done and I didnt ask but apparently he did cause he said "They just did my front main witch required my timing cover, valve covers and oil pan gaskets to be changed for access. " both of ours are apparently leaking in the same manner and squeaking in the front of the motor
