Nah. actually came to complain about my day. It sucked... Fiancé drove over a small rock and ripped the oil pan off her Volvo.. Guess I am fixing that instead of buying her a spa day for her bday next week..

Anyone here rebuilt a snowblower carb? Is it a real pain to do? More importantly, is there anywhere local that stocks a rebuild kit.

I've got a few year old Craftsman 5hp unit with a Tecumseh motor. Despite running it out of fuel last year at the end of the season it really only runs @ half choke so I'm thinking it's got a dirty carb. I've got a few wrenches and a can-do attitude so I'm thinking I'll tear into it, but I'd love to go out somewhere, grab what I need and go rather than ordering online, since it is supposed to be nice tomorrow and I have the day off.

I highly doubt a fuel system additive will solve my issue.

What did you buy? I recently got the itch for an AR and was looking at a colt that someone was selling locally.

Then I started checking out the PSA site and have absolutely no idea what I want to do.

 

It's not overly hard to rebuild and clean a carb. Just a lot of small pieces that need to go back in the same spot. If you have a work bench just lay everything out as you take it apart. Compressed air is very handy getting crap out of all the ports.
As for somewhere local I have no clue but it's a craftsman so I'm sure you won't have any issues finding parts. Good luck

Appreciate the help, guys. I think I know what I'll be doing. I wish I didn't fill it full of fuel though...since there's no way to stop the flow of fuel into the carb and it's a gravity feed tank. Doesn't look overly difficult though.

 

Also...
Safety Glasses.
Solvent + Gasoline + Compressed Air... Not so great.

It is pretty easy to rebuild a small engine carb. But take lots of pictures and disassemble/reassemble in order as mentioned above, because otherwise you may end up with spare parts left over when you're done.
