Yeah I'm on the fence about which way I want to go. I've read the sport and off road coils ride totally different with 5100s

I've heard the sport coils are a smoother ride b/c they are linear vs the offroad coils being progressive. Whatever that means.

Glad I found this as I just did an install with 5100s and stock trd sport springs at 1.75 and have had it about 2k miles and just got a small clunk. Can't imagine it is anything wear related, my truck only has 8k on it total. I did loosen my lca's so I'll check the bolts for those tomorrow.

Had to get under the truck again last night. I initially only tighten 2 out of the 4 alignment bolts so now I'm good :)

One thing I'm a little pissed about is the people who did my alignment broke the clip that goes on the tie rod dust cover so they zip tied it. I had some the alignment parts seized so they put on new ones but, now I have to buy a new driver side clamp. The dust cover was completely off.

Man, I have had this clunk sound for a good while now and it's embarrassing... I need to check everything from sway bar, alignment bolts, etc...

The clunk happens when I go over small bumps, accelerate, or turning the steering wheels.. time to find the issue

I just did the bilsteins too and i get a lil bit of a clunk when i go from reverse into drive or drive to reverse. other than that when im driving over bumps or anything else i dont hear it. only from forward to reverse or vise versa. Someone told me it may be my rotors shifting and could be normal maybe?

I would double check those alignment bolts first. They're pretty easy to get to once you remove the skid plate.

if you were getting clunking from the alignment bolts being loose... its highly likely your alignment is now messed up...

Take it back to the shop and have them redo the alignment, take a torque wrench with you and torque the 4 bolts down in the parking lot.

BTW to the above, i rock TRD OR coils at 1.75 on my truck, and i love the ride, its not harsh at all.

I can attest to this as I've been on both. When I first got the 5100s they were used and came with OR coils. Ran those for a little while and they were slightly stiff compared to my stock sport springs which I then ran for some more time. The 5100's were set on the highest setting... During this time I heard no clicks or noise and I ran them pretty hard with the sport springs on. Member Carcharias also was having a similar clicking issue too (not on 5100's though) and end result I believe was needed a new LCA bushing or just needed to retorque the bolts...can't remember.

But as a side note, now i'm on 5100s at the lowest setting and running OME 887's and the ride is so much better than either of the stock coils. for only $180 I highly recommend them!

I didn't have a level surface easily available to do measurements however it seems to sit as high if not a little higher than what I was getting with the stock coils on the top setting of the 5100s.

and yes, I have the TotalChaos UCAs.

I took the truck out last night on the dirt and no more clunking. I hit some of the whoop sections a little hard too and still no clunk so it was definitely the alignment bolts. Thanks again.
